“Lydia!” Rosie was practically fuming. Lydia really had a way with words, and it drove her crazy.
“Oh, and by the way,” Lydia went on, “just because your uncle’s a general, that doesn’t mean you get to look down on everyone else. My uncle may not have that title, but he’s still a good man who serves the country and its people.”
“Well said, Lydia! Well said!” Mr. Robinson burst out laughing, clearly delighted.
William looked at Lydia with pride. “That’s my niece. They’re all the same age, but tell me, why is our Lydia so much better than everyone else?”
Rosie’s eyes started to sting. This was not how tonight was supposed to go. They’d come to put the Robinson family in their place, not get humiliated themselves.
“Lydia, you think you can act all high and mighty just because you’re engaged to Connor Jefferson? He won’t be on top for long!” Mandy snapped, her eyes cold and sharp. As she spoke, her gaze flicked toward Connor. She would never forget that it was Connor who had landed her in prison, making her suffer for two whole months.
When Damien and his family heard Connor’s name, they froze for a second, then glanced in disbelief at the man who radiated icy indifference.
“He… he’s Connor Jefferson? Lydia’s fiancé?” Damien’s mind was spinning. What were they supposed to do now? They’d just managed to offend Connor himself.
Wendy and Chloe stared at Connor, completely stunned. That was Connor? This was a disaster. They’d come back for his help, and now everything was falling apart. How had Lydia managed to become Connor’s fiancée?

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
