The Goss family had way more power than the Gibsons. If this marriage actually happened, he wouldn’t have to put up with Jackson’s attitude anymore. He’d be Alfie’s father-in-law, and then the Goss family would have to treat him with respect. What could be better than that? Jackson was getting too full of himself lately, barely even pretending to care about the Gibson family. Benjamin was desperate to boost their status so he wouldn’t have to put up with that kind of disrespect.
Tonight, the Robinsons really went too far. He’d shown up with a generous gift and plenty of good intentions, and William hadn’t even looked at him. Treated him like he was invisible. It’s absolutely infuriating.
Rosie couldn’t believe it. She was already feeling miserable, and her parents were still trying to talk her into marrying Alfie, like her feelings didn’t even matter. “Uncle just wants me to marry into the Goss family for their help, right? Well, he already got what he wanted. He’s a general now. Why does he even care about them? Either way, I’m not marrying Alfie. If you want him so much, you marry him!”
That was enough to get Benjamin riled up. “Rosie, did Alfie ever do anything to hurt you? Why do you hate him so much?”
Rosie rolled her eyes. “He’s pathetic. I’m not marrying a loser like him. Go ask anyone at Capital College. Behind his back, everyone calls him the campus streaker. You might not mind the humiliation, but I do.”
Mandy just shook her head in exasperation. “But he did it for you, Rosie. You know how cunning Lydia can be. We can’t handle her, and neither can Alfie. He’s a good kid. Please, don’t make a mistake you’ll regret.”
Rosie clenched her jaw. “I’m never marrying him. Not ever.”
She let out a frustrated sigh and turned to stare out the window. In the reflection on the glass, she thought she saw a gentle, striking face.
After the party ended, Lydia didn’t head home with the family.
“Dad, Mom, you two go ahead. Juna needs to talk to me about something.”
Lucinda didn’t buy it for a second. She just knew Lydia was taking advantage of Connor being away to sneak out and meet up with some other guy in the middle of the night.
“It’s already eleven, Lydia. Can’t it wait until tomorrow?”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
