After what happened yesterday, Lucinda's authority at home took another serious hit.
The driver cleared his throat. “Maybe Lydia has other things to do.”
Lucinda tightened her grip on her hands. “But if she doesn't leave for school now, she’ll be late.”
“Maybe she already told the school she’d be absent,” the driver said.
Lucinda felt her anger spike. Was he really that clueless? That wasn’t what she meant at all. She wanted him to spread the news, not just state the obvious. Useless!
Honestly, Lucinda was dying to follow Lydia and figure out what she was up to. She was convinced Lydia was up to no good. But after almost getting kicked out of the Norwood family yesterday for having Grace tail Lydia, she just couldn’t risk it again.
Grace was still stuck at the police station, so there was no one left to do Lucinda’s dirty work.
So all she could do was watch helplessly as Lydia skipped school for who-knows-what shady business. The frustration was overwhelming.
Lydia knew there was no way Lucinda would dare send anyone after her again, so she just changed her route right out in the open.
Norwood Enterprises was in one of the busiest parts of the city, and it wasn’t far from Connor’s Jefferson Group.
After parking her car, Lydia headed toward the towering glass building. She wore a black mask, only her clear, cool eyes showing. She moved at a calm, steady pace, walking right through the revolving doors.
A crystal chandelier in the lobby scattered light over her perfectly tailored black coat.
“Miss, what can I do for you?” The receptionist, face perfectly made up, looked Lydia over with a hint of suspicion.
Definitely someone she hadn’t seen before.
“I’m looking for your CEO.”
Surprised, the receptionist checked Lydia out again. Young, elegant, great figure. Even with half her face hidden by a mask, she could tell those eyes and brows were seriously gorgeous.
She’s here for Blake? Was it possible he was dating? No way. She’d never even heard a rumor.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
