Caspian knew Lucinda might get annoyed if he showed up at the school gate looking for her. He just never imagined she’d be this angry.
Still, he was her boyfriend now, wasn’t he? Sure, he wasn’t as outstanding as Connor, but he wasn’t someone you had to hide, either.
“Lucinda, I tried calling you, but you didn’t pick up. Just now, I…” He started to explain.
Lucinda didn’t want to hear it. “So I’m supposed to have my phone ready for you all day, every day? Just because you call, I have to answer? If you text, I have to drop everything and reply? Do I not have my own life?”
“That’s not what I meant. I just thought maybe we could have dinner together tonight.”
Lucinda’s frustration only grew, and the words burst out before she could stop them. “It’s always about what you want. Have you ever once thought about what I want?”
Caspian froze. Lucinda had always been a bit distant, but she’d never blown up at him like this.
“Lucinda… do you really not enjoy being with me?”
Right now, Lucinda was just done. Even looking at Caspian made her skin crawl. That was the truth. She felt like he didn’t deserve her at all. Maybe it was because her grandfather was on her side now, and deep down, she knew that as long as he was around, not even Cameron or Kylie could kick her out of the Norwood family. There was no point pretending with Caspian anymore.
“Yeah, I’m not happy at all. Caspian, we’re just not right for each other. Let’s break up. And please, don’t come looking for me again.”
“Caspian, let her go. She never really cared about you.”
Caspian was shocked to see his sister there, watching him fall apart. His voice was rough and shaky. “Were you… following me?”
Breanna let out a long, frustrated sigh. “I just wanted to see how things were going with you and Lucinda. I didn’t expect… Look, you two live in totally different worlds. She’s the richest man’s daughter, and she’s got her own ideas about what she wants. You’ll find someone better someday.”
Caspian hadn’t told anyone at home the truth about Lucinda not being the real heiress. He was still gripping his phone, the screen stuck on the last call he’d tried to make. The automated voice on the other end was like a dull blade, dragging across his heart again and again.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
