Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 1143

“People online are seriously messed up. Lydia was just sitting in a crowded restaurant, out in the open where everyone could see her, and they still managed to twist it all into something ugly. Honestly, it says more about them than it does about her.”

The moment Lydia saw the photos, she knew they had Rosie’s fingerprints all over them. Jealousy really was a scary thing. Rosie was out there spreading rumors with zero proof, just because she was bitter. Lydia decided to put Rosie in her place, or Rosie would really start thinking she could do whatever she wanted just because Jackson was on her side.

Lucinda’s face darkened at Kylie’s words, but she wasn’t about to let this chance slip by. She’d wanted to take Lydia down a peg for ages. Her parents were always so biased. If it had been her in the same situation, they’d probably have chewed her out by now. But since it was their golden girl, suddenly it was all the internet’s fault? The photo was 100% real.

“Mom, I don’t think Lydia would ever do anything like that either, but who was that guy? Why was she having dinner alone with him?” Lucinda asked, her voice carrying just the right amount of innocent concern.

Inside, Lucinda was practically bouncing with excitement. She knew it. She just knew Lydia was up to no good last night. Now everyone knew, and Lydia had nowhere to hide. This was her moment. Maybe now Connor would finally see Lydia for who she really was. Lucinda could almost see her own happy ending taking shape. Lydia would get dumped by Connor, and the Jefferson family would cut her off for good.

Just then, Tina hurried over. “Ma’am, Mrs. Shaw and Mr. Shaw are here. They’re downstairs. Sir asked me to come get you and Lydia.”

Lucinda frowned. Mrs. Shaw? That snobby lady who always acted like she was better than everyone else? What were they doing here? Lucinda just knew their visit would only mean trouble for her.

Kylie gave Lydia a quick look. Lydia said, “I need a minute to freshen up. I’ll be right down.”

“Alright, Lydia. I’ll go greet them first,” Kylie replied.

“Okay,” Lydia said.
