Ready to Rule The Real Heiress Strikes Back (Lydia and Connor) novel Chapter 1145

Aside from Mrs. Shaw and her son, everyone in the room was caught off guard.

“Lydia, was it the Gibson family?” Mr. Jefferson asked, his face tight with anger as he watched Lydia come down the stairs.

Lydia gave a small nod. “Yes.”

Mr. Jefferson’s eyebrows pinched together. He let out a cold laugh. “The Gibson family is getting bolder by the day. Do they really think just because they have Jackson backing them up, they can do whatever they want?”

Carter looked embarrassed. “Well, this whole thing started because of me. I’m the one who dragged Lydia into it. When we get back, I’ll make a statement and clear up the misunderstanding.”

Everyone looked at him in surprise. Because of him? Why?

Before Lydia could say anything, Carter, looking uncomfortable, explained the whole story. Once he finished, eveyone finally figured it out. So it was just a mess caused by young people and their feelings. Still, no matter how Rosie felt about being rejected, her reaction was completely over the top.

Lydia didn’t hold back. “I’ll find the proof and make sure she’s held responsible for what she did.”

Most people there knew how good Lydia was at digging up evidence, so they immediately chimed in with support. “Lydia’s right. She needs to answer for her actions.”

Cameron nodded. “Exactly. And those companies spreading rumors online, those trolls who smeared Lydia’s name… None of them should get away with it.” The online troublemakers needed to be dealt with, too.

Suddenly, Mr. Jefferson turned to Cameron and Kylie. “There’s something else. When are you planning to announce Lydia’s identity?”

Mrs. Shaw joined in. “Yes, Lydia’s been back for so long. Why haven’t you told the world yet?”

Standing off to the side, Lucinda’s hands balled into fists. She hated the idea of Lydia’s identity being revealed. Even if grandpa said she and Lydia would be twins, she didn’t want the Norwood family to make it public. She wanted all the attention and honor that came with being the heiress, all for herself.

Lydia’s lips curled into a half-smile. “Grandpa told me that if I want to announce my identity as the real Norwood heiress, I have to tell everyone Lucinda is my twin. Honestly, if that’s the only option, I’d rather not announce anything at all and just let her enjoy being the Norwood family’s young lady.”

Everyone in the room was stunned. It was almost too much to process!

“Was that his idea?”

“What’s so bad about it?”

Suddenly, Mr. Norwood was wheeled out of his room by a caregiver. He hadn’t planned to get involved, but when he heard Lucinda’s name, he couldn’t stay out of it any longer. He had to stand up for her.

Mr. Jefferson looked at Mr. Norwood, clearly not impressed. “Wayne, we’re not kids anymore. Isn’t it time to be honest about things? And have you even thought about how Lydia feels in all of this?”
