Jackson’s face went so dark it looked like he might explode. A vein pulsed on his forehead as he fixed a hard stare on Rosie. He spoke slowly, each word sharp. “Rosie, at a time like this, you really picked a fight with the Goss family? Do you even realize what they mean to us?”
The Goss family was his biggest support. That was the whole reason he wanted Rosie to marry Alfie. And now… Rosie had managed to mess it up?
Rosie’s shoulders trembled, tears glinting in her eyes, but she stuck her chin out. “You can’t force someone to feel something. I was never happy with him. Just seeing him annoyed me.”
Mandy glanced at Jackson’s furious face, looking a little guilty. She let out a soft sigh, her voice tinged with helplessness. “Jackson, it’s not even about what Rosie wants anymore. The Goss family already spread the word. They won’t accept her.”
Mrs. Goss was completely firm, and the gossip had spread like wildfire in their circle. Mandy hadn’t dared to mention that part.
Jackson’s eyes darted to Rosie, sharp and cold. “Tomorrow, you’ll go to the Goss family and apologize. I don’t care how you do it. You have to make things right and get them to take you back.”
He couldn’t afford to lose the Goss family.
Rosie stared at him, shocked, her eyes instantly filling with tears as anger and hurt twisted inside her. “Why do I have to apologize? Alfie’s useless! And now you want me to grovel? That’s just humiliating!”
Her voice broke and she started to cry quietly, shoulders shaking.
Benjamin saw how upset Rosie was and wanted to say something for his daughter, but Mandy gave his sleeve a gentle tug, stopping him. All he could do was let out a heavy sigh, his chest tight with frustration.
What sense did any of this make? Did he really have no say at all in his own daughter’s marriage? If she didn’t like the guy, why did thye have to push her? Things had already gotten out of hand. What else could they do now?

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
