Ready to Rule The Real Heiress Strikes Back (Lydia and Connor) novel Chapter 1171

Marilyn found Maisie, Yara, Tina, and Lucinda already sitting together, so she joined them.

Maisie kept glancing over at Lydia, her lips curling in a sneer. “She actually showed up? After everything?”

Maisie had always been close with Rosie, and ever since Rosie ended up in jail, Maisie’s mood had been dark.

Marilyn leaned in, a sly smile on her face. She lowered her voice, “Lydia’s gotten way too full of herself lately. Why don’t we do something to knock her down a notch, embarrass her a little?”

Lucinda just smirked and swirled her juice, saying nothing. If Lydia couldn’t get along with her schoolmates, that was her own problem.

Maisie’s eyes flashed. “I’ve had enough of Lydia. Today’s the perfect chance, and I’m not letting her off easy. I have to stand up for Rosie.”

Yara jumped in, eager to stir things up. “Exactly. She always acts like she’s better than everyone else. If we can humiliate her tonight at the birthday party, maybe she’ll finally quit acting so superior.”

Tina and Lucinda exchanged a quick look. They didn’t say anything, but they weren’t stopping this either.

Meanwhile, Lydia was ready to leave. She felt like she’d already done what she came to do, and she leaned toward Juna and Lincoln to say she was heading out. That’s when she noticed Maisie walking toward them, wine glass in hand, swaying like she was on a catwalk.

Maisie’s heart hammered in her chest, a mix of nervousness and excitement. She kept picturing Lydia’s face—surprised, embarrassed, covered in red wine.

Maisie arrived at their table and forced a bright, fake smile. “Well, if it isn’t our little genius.”

Lydia looked at her calmly. “What do you want?”

“How did she end up covered in her own wine?”

“That’s priceless!”

Maisie’s face burned with embarrassment and fury. She couldn’t believe their master plan had backfired so spectacularly, and now she was the center of everyone’s jokes.

“Lydia, you did that on purpose!” Maisie shouted, pointing at her, her voice shaking.

Lydia just shrugged, looking completely unbothered. “How could I have done it on purpose? You just tripped over your own feet.”

Juna, who had seen the whole thing, grinned and added, “Wow, is this your new party trick? You really know how to make an entrance.”
