Marilyn couldn’t stand Lydia’s arrogant attitude, either. She leaned in to comfort Yara. “Don’t let her get to you. She’s just desperate for attention. Mr. Norwood would never go for her.”
Marilyn and Yara had spent enough time together that Marilyn knew all about Yara’s crush on Garrett. Yara glared at Lydia’s back as she walked away, her voice icy. “Mr. Norwood would never be interested in her. She’s nothing but a whore.”
Right then, just as Lydia was about to step into the advanced lab building, she suddenly turned around and looked straight at them. “You call me desperate, but what about you? If I were you, I’d keep a low profile and try not to remind everyone you’re a illegitimate child.”
Then she turned her gaze to Yara. “You call me a whore? Should I take that as you being a little jealous of how I look?”
For a second, Marilyn and Yara were so mad they couldn’t even speak. Lydia was usually quiet, but when she clapped back, she didn’t hold back at all.
“You… you…” Marilyn choked, pointing a shaking finger at Lydia.
“I’m just telling it like it is. Take it or leave it.” Lydia didn’t wait for a response. She turned and walked into the lab building. The glass doors slid open after a quick face scan, and she walked in with all the cool confidence in the world.
Marilyn was so angry she nearly lost it. Nothing bothered her more than anyone bringing up her being an illegitimate child. Hardly anyone at school even knew about it. But yesterday, Lydia had shown up uninvited at her grandmother’s birthday party and found out everything. That bitch!
Yara smiled, loving every word. Marilyn was right. Garrett belonged to her, and only her. “Thank you, too, Marilyn.”
Even though Erik had told Marilyn over and over to get along with Lydia at school, Marilyn just couldn’t stand her. The idea of being friends with Lydia was ridiculous.
It only took Lydia three days to develop the antidote for Krista. To help her recover faster, Lydia collected a bunch of rare medicines. That night, she planned to give Krista another acupuncture treatment, hoping to get the last of the toxins out of her system.
Her two loyal shadows, Juna and Lincoln, followed her everywhere. On the way, Lydia’s phone rang. It was Blake. “Lydia, we’re good to go tonight.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
