After stepping out of the old Bland house, Juna let out a long sigh. “What is Krista’s daughter even thinking? Doesn’t she realize her own mom is trapped in there, barely hanging on?”
Lydia paused, thinking it over. “From what I’ve heard, she grew up mostly with Victoria. Victoria filled her head with twisted ideas every day. Her sense of right and wrong is pretty much gone.”
Juna shook her head, looking genuinely sad. “That’s just heartbreaking.” She glanced at Lydia, curiosity lighting up her eyes. “Do you think Krista could ever forgive her daughter?”
Lydia shook her head again. “Honestly, I have no idea. That’s up to her. I just hope it doesn’t mess with our plans.”
Everyone carries their own scales inside, weighing love against hate, pain against forgiveness. Sometimes, forgiving is just a way to let go of old wounds and find a new beginning. Other times, holding onto anger is the only way to keep your dignity after everything you’ve been through. There’s no absolute right or wrong, just choices people make.
It was close to eleven by the time Lydia got back to the Norwood house. Cameron and Kylie were already asleep, completely unaware that Lydia had returned. She told the staff not to make a fuss, insisting she was only there to pick up a few things and didn’t want to disturb anyone.
Blake was waiting for her. He looked exhausted, weighed down by worry. He’d been trying to track down any sign of their grandfather, but he’d come up empty. It just showed how far the enemy’s influence really reached. How many spies were they hiding in this country now?
There were usually night staff in the main house, but Blake had sent everyone home to get some rest.
It was nearly midnight when he and Lydia slipped quietly into Mr. Norwood’s bedroom. The old man was dead asleep, his snores rumbling through the room. Lydia sprinkled a bit of powder to make sure he stayed sound asleep, then moved carefully to his bedside to check on him.
He’d had heart surgery before. Lydia looked at his chest first, and sure enough, there was the scar. Whoever was behind this had been disturbingly thorough—even the old scars looked identical.

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
