Juna’s eyes suddenly went wide as something clicked in her mind. Lydia just put a finger to her lips, asking for silence. At the same time, Nina strolled over to Kylie and Cameron, greeting them with polite warmth. She nodded at Blake, too, but completely skipped over Lucinda.
Lucinda could feel her annoyance simmering. She’d actually liked Nina at first, thinking they were on the same team. But Nina’s obvious snub was infuriating.
Kylie gave Nina a friendly smile. “Your parents are here too, right?”
Nina nodded, still smiling. “Yeah, they’re somewhere at the party.”
Cameron grinned. “Great. It’s been a while since we’ve seen them. We’ll have to catch up in a bit.”
The Robinson family had also shown up, but William hadn’t come. Mabel brought Nathaniel instead. As soon as Nathaniel arrived, he texted Lydia, asking where she was, then came straight over.
“Lydia,” he called out cheerfully.
A minute later, Lincoln appeared. “Wow, this place is really buzzing tonight. Lots of big names here, and I even spotted some folks from Maple Town and Rock Bay.”
Juna couldn’t help laughing. “I heard the girls from Maple Town are gorgeous. You try your luck yet?”
Lincoln rolled his eyes. “Do you really think I’m that guy?”
Juna shot him a look. “Come on, you don’t know yourself by now?”
These ladies all had daughters and were desperate to arrange a good match. The Jefferson family was at the top of their wish list. They hadn’t even found a chance to make an introduction, and now the girl from Maple Town had gone and asked him out right in public. Outrageous. No one liked seeing their future son-in-law snatched up by someone so bold.
Lydia raised an eyebrow. Mikey, huh? The mayor’s daughter had asked him out?
Juna burst out laughing, covering her mouth. “Lydia, what if the mayor’s daughter ends up as your sister-in-law?”
Lydia paused, thinking. “That depends. Let’s see if she can actually win Mikey over.”
Mikey wasn’t exactly easy to impress. Lucinda herself had once tried to marry him and got turned down flat. She never imagined someone from Maple Town would go so far as to ask Mikey out in front of everyone.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
