Kylie and Cameron both turned to Lydia, their voices tense. “Lydia, what’s going on?” The distrust in their eyes was impossible to miss. They definitely weren’t siding with Lucinda anymore.
Lydia kept her gaze fixed on Lucinda. “Why don’t you ask her? Ask what she said to Miss Powell at the party last night.”
Lucinda felt her heart skip a beat. What did that snake Nina say to Lydia? How did Lydia even know she’d talked to Nina?
“Lucinda, we saw you talking to Miss Powell yesterday,” Kylie pressed, her suspicion clear. “What were you two talking about?”
Lucinda’s eyes filled with tears on the spot, her voice quivering. “Mom, I just said hello to Miss Powell. I didn’t say anything about my sister. Besides, she doesn’t even know how we’re related. What could I possibly say to her?”
Lydia let out a cold, mocking laugh. There she goes again, acting innocent.
Lucinda put on her most aggrieved look. “If you don’t believe me, Lydia, I can talk to her directly. I’ve got nothing to hide.”
Mr. Norwood spoke up right away. “Lydia, you can’t just take an outsider’s word over your own sister’s. You and Lucinda are family. Don’t let anyone come between you and ruin our family’s peace.”
Suddenly, Lucinda seemed to have a lightbulb moment. “Oh, I get it. I heard Miss Powell’s been into Carter for a while. She probably saw some rumors online and got suspicious, so now she’s trying to turn my sister against the other girls from the Capital. She just wants to isolate her.”
She turned to Kylie and Cameron, her voice trembling. “Dad, Mom, I swear I’m innocent.”
Mr. Norwood looked furious. “Lydia, that’s enough. Stop stirring things up.”
Lydia’s lips curled into a smirk as she lifted her phone. “Well, I’ve already sent everything you just said to Nina. Let’s see how she responds.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
