Cameron took a step forward, sounding tired and frustrated. “Dad, you have to stop shielding her. Lucinda is too much. If she stays here with us, there will just be more problems.”
Mr. Norwood let out a bitter laugh, his face red with anger. “Alright. If none of you can stand Lucinda, then I’ll just take her back to the old house in the countryside. We can make it on our own without you.”
Lucinda felt her heart drop. She started to panic. Go back to the countryside? No way. That place was impossible to live in. Was Grandpa really thinking straight right now?
Cameron, just as angry, blurted out, “Fine, leave us if you want! You never listen to us anyway. You always have to do things your way.”
The entire living room went silent. Kylie just stared at Cameron and quickly tugged on his sleeve, trying to get him to apologize. Everyone knew Cameron treated his father well. Telling his dad to head back to the country… that would definitely raise some eyebrows.
Lucinda felt dizzy with fear. No, anything but going back to the country with Grandpa. Even if they were just pretending for a few days, she couldn’t do it. Not even for a day, not even for a few hours. She’d lose her mind. She still had school. There was no way she could just pack up and leave.
Mr. Norwood stood frozen, his face full of shock and hurt. “What did you just say?” He had only said it to scare them, never expecting they’d actually take him up on it.
Cameron, realizing what he’d done thanks to Kylie’s warning, tried to explain. But the old man cut him off. “Great. I worked my whole life to raise you, to turn you into the person you are, and this is how you treat me?”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
