Lydia’s plans were just getting off the ground, so if anything happened to Mr. Norwood right now, everything could fall apart. She stepped forward, her voice calm. “Let me check on him.”
But Mr. Norwood cut her off immediately. “I don’t want you anywhere near me. This family is a mess because of you. Maybe I should just die, so you all can finally get what you want.”
Lydia saw that he still had the energy to shout, so she decided not to push it any further.
Kylie quickly told the maid to bring the heart medicine and helped her father take it. “Dad, please, don’t scare us like this. It’s our fault. We won’t talk about asking Lucinda to leave anymore, okay? Please calm down.”
Cameron crouched beside him, his tone soft. “Dad, whatever you say, we’ll do it. Alright?”
After a long, tense moment, Mr. Norwood’s breathing finally eased. He looked exhausted but determined as he spoke. “I don’t care what any of you think. I watched Lucinda grow up. She’s my granddaughter, end of story. If anyone tries to make her leave again, they’ll have to step over my dead body.”
Kylie and Cameron shared a look, helpless and resigned. They had no choice but to nod in agreement.
Lucinda stood by the sofa, watching her grandfather, her heart twisting with a mix of gratitude and sorrow. Then, as if remembering what had started all this, she turned to Nina, her eyes sharp. “Miss Powell, it’s my fault last night. Are you happy now?”
Even though Mr. Norwood’s episode wasn’t really Nina’s fault, it was her visit that had pushed things over the edge. Nina hadn’t done anything wrong, but after everything that happened, it almost seemed like she was the one who had caused all the trouble. The tension in the room was thick and uncomfortable.
Lydia scoffed. “Things just settled down and now you want to stir things up again? If you want to blame someone, maybe start with yourself. Why did you throw shade at others?”
Lucinda’s face turned red, stung by Lydia’s words.
Cameron and Kylie shot Lucinda looks of disapproval.

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
