Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 122

[Our Biker Queen is making the whole country proud. This is just too good.]

[She’s so cool, so fierce, and seriously stunning. I wish I knew who she was. What does she look like? Why is her face always blurred out?]

[Wait, is that Chris Jefferson with her? I swear, those two would make the perfect couple.]

The comments were everywhere, coming in faster than she could read them.

Lydia just smiled helplessly and turned off her phone.

Neil and his family had no one to blame but themselves. They got exactly what they deserved.

Just then, Josef knocked and came in, looking confused, a folder from HR in his hands.

He’d only stepped out for a bit, and Mr. Ragain had already ended up at the police station? He could hardly keep up.

“Ms. Norwood, are you alright?”

Lydia glanced at him. “Henry’s the one with the problem.”

Josef was floored. He hadn’t expected someone so young to be this decisive. No wonder the chairman sent her here personally.

Earlier, when he’d gone to HR for department files, everyone had been on edge, afraid they’d be next.

“Oh, that reminds me, Ms. Norwood,” he said, remembering. “When I was in HR, the manager told me it was Marissa who wanted Jenny moved to reception. She said Jenny wasn’t much use in design and, since the two receptionists got fired, she recommended her for the job.”

Lydia’s smile didn’t reach her eyes. “I see.”

She spent the rest of the morning getting to know the company’s core team. Before the workday ended, she gave Josef new instructions. “Have HR post some job openings this afternoon. I’ll send you the files.”

Josef blinked in surprise. “Ms. Norwood, what positions are we hiring for?”

“You’ll see in the email.”

Jenny shook her head quickly. “It’s really no trouble, Ms. Norwood. As long as I’m helping the company, I don’t mind staying here for a few days.”

“Alright. I’m heading out to meet a friend for lunch. We’ll talk more about your projects when I get back.”

“Of course, Ms. Norwood. And… thank you for what you did with Mr. Ragain. If you hadn’t stepped in, I…”

“He brought it on himself. It had nothing to do with you. Go ahead and finish your lunch.”

Jenny watched Lydia’s tall, confident figure walk away, her eyes stinging a little. She knew Lydia was trying to keep her out of trouble, so she wouldn’t get dragged into office politics.

Ms. Norwood… she really is the best.

Outside, Lydia spotted a black Rolls-Royce parked by the curb, its glossy lines gleaming in the sunlight, giving off a quiet kind of power.

Connor saw her the moment she stepped out. He got out of the car himself, ready to meet her.
