“Lydia.”
Connor watched her, taking in her delicate, radiant features. For a moment, the walls around his heart felt like they were about to crumble.
Lydia nodded. “Where are we going?”
“The Royal Hotel.”
She lifted an eyebrow, instantly recognizing the name. The Royal Hotel was the only place in the city grand enough to host presidents and world leaders. It was owned by the Jefferson Group.
Connor reached out, gently shielding her head as she got into the car. The gesture was so careful and soft, it left Aiden, sitting up front, completely stunned. He had never seen Connor act like this before.
Seriously, was this real life? If the rest of the team saw Connor like this, they’d swear they were dreaming.
But then again, Lydia really was something else. The real Norwood heiress was jaw-droppingly beautiful. Even calling her gorgeous didn’t do her justice. She had this cool, confident vibe, and together with the boss, they honestly looked perfect, like a couple out of a story. No wonder Connor had been obsessed with finding her.
Guess even the toughest guys fall hard for the right girl.
Connor got in next to Lydia, holding back the swirl of emotion stirring inside him. He glanced at Aiden. “Let’s go.”
“Yes, Boss.”
After a moment, Connor turned to Lydia. “Long day at work?”
She shook her head, her long lashes fluttering lightly. It was almost hypnotic. “Not really.”
“You like fashion design?”
“It’s fun.”
He grinned. “You also know medicine, ride motorcycles, and you can definitely hold your own in a fight. Those are just hobbies too?”
Connor felt like every time he learned something new about Lydia, it was a surprise waiting to happen. He couldn’t help wanting to know more.
Lydia nodded. “Yeah. But medicine… that’s more than a hobby. That’s my dream.”
She wanted to do something real in the medical world, to help people, to make a difference.
Connor felt her words settle in his chest. She really was incredible.
“Lydia, give me your hand.”
She’d only been joking, but he remembered.
“Let me put it on you.”
She hesitated. “It’s too much.”
He shook his head. “It’s the only thing that feels right for you.”
If this bracelet wasn’t good enough for her, then nothing was.
Lydia’s heart skipped. Wasn’t Connor supposed to be cold and untouchable? How did he know exactly what to say to make her feel so seen?
Connor’s fingers were gentle as he fastened the bracelet around her wrist. The meteorite was cool against her skin, almost as if she could feel the mysteries of space itself.
“It looks perfect on you,” Connor said, his voice soft, his hand lingering on her wrist.
Lydia slipped her hand back, her voice barely above a whisper. “Thank you.”
The bracelet was like nothing she’d ever seen. She loved it.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
