Mikey juggled bags of every size, trailing behind Mona as she darted from shop to shop. She was a whirlwind, her energy never flagging, while Mikey felt like he was running on empty. Honestly, he had hit every store in town today, making up for years of skipped shopping trips. No joke, it was exhausting. He’d rather be at work.
As the sky faded into a wash of orange and pink, Mona’s phone buzzed. Mrs. Brown was calling, reminding her to come home. Only then did Mona finally drag Mikey back to the car, disappointment written all over her face.
When they pulled up to the Brown family villa, Mrs. Brown was already waiting, grinning from ear to ear. She glanced between the two of them, her eyes lingering on the mountain of shopping bags Mikey struggled to carry.
“Mikey, you must be wiped out. Mona’s favorite way to kill time is shopping,” she teased.
Mikey managed a polite smile. “I came to Maple Town just to keep her company.”
Mona shot him a surprised look, but it only lasted a moment before she broke into a dramatic, sweet smile. She clung to his arm, her voice turning playful. “See? I knew you still care about me, Mikey.”
Mikey just stared at her, speechless.
Mrs. Brown laughed and waved a maid over to take the bags from Mikey’s aching hands. “My husband will be home soon. He’s gonna have dinner with us.”
Mikey nodded. “Great, I’ll wait to say hello before heading back to the Capital.”
“No need to rush,” Mrs. Brown said quickly. “It’s late already. Why don’t you stay the night? Head back tomorrow.”
She shot Mona a look. Catching the hint, Mona hugged Mikey’s arm even tighter. “Please, Mikey, it’s so late. Just stay.”
Mikey’s smile was awkward. “Let’s see what Mr. Brown says when he gets back.”
Mrs. Brown clapped her hands together. “Alright, alright. You two must be tired after all that walking. Come sit and have some tea.”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
