Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 166

Cameron stared at Parker, his face tight with anger, searching for any hint of honesty in what he was saying.

Byron glanced between them and spoke up. “It’s not hard to clear this up. Just ask Miss Lucinda when you get home. She’ll tell you the truth.”

Cameron nodded, but then turned back to Parker, his eyes blazing. “I believe Lucinda had her reasons for what she did. But you... you lied to me and Kylie, you stole from the company, and you even hired people to hurt my daughter. You’d better get ready to face the law.”

Meanwhile, across the room, Rose’s desperate cries finally caught Kylie’s attention.

For a split second, it was like Rose saw an angel standing before her.

Wasn’t that what Kylie had always been for the Ragain family? No matter what happened, no matter what kind of trouble they got themselves into, Kylie would always find a way to fix it for them.

“Kylie! Kylie, you’re finally here! I knew you wouldn’t just leave us like this! I knew you’d come, I just knew it!” Rose sobbed, completely falling apart.

No one could really understand just how terrified Rose was in that moment.

She was scared her beautiful, comfortable life would disappear in an instant. She was scared she’d end up behind bars for the rest of her life, never seeing her son again, losing everything she’d worked for. There were too many fears to even count.

But Kylie wasn’t moved at all. Her face was cold, her eyes distant. Rose’s tears and pleas didn’t touch her in the slightest.

Then Lydia stepped out from behind Kylie. Rose was about to start begging again, but the sight of the two of them together stopped her in her tracks.

What was she seeing?

With Kylie and Lydia standing side by side, they looked so much alike. It was almost like looking at a mother and daughter. Their features matched perfectly, both of them beautiful in a way that made people stare. Kylie’s look was softer, warmer, while Lydia’s was sharper, a little colder.

A thought flashed through Rose’s mind, and her whole body went numb.

How was this possible? Lydia was Kylie and Cameron’s daughter?

“You stole from the company, you cooked the books, you cut corners... I could have let that go. But you crossed the line when you went after my daughter. If anyone hurts my child, I will make sure they regret it for the rest of their life.”

Kylie’s voice was sharper than Rose had ever heard. The coldness in her tone wiped away any hope Rose had left.

It was over. Everything was over.

Panic crashed over her, so strong she could barely breathe.

“Kylie, I’m sorry. I swear, I’ll make up for what I did. I didn’t know she was your daughter. If I’d known, I never would have done those things, I promise!

“Kylie, please, for the sake of everything we’ve been through together, let us go just this once. I’ll never touch her again, I swear. Please, Kylie, I’ll get on my knees, I’ll apologize, I’ll do anything. Just give us one more chance. I can’t survive here, I really can’t...” Rose broke down in tears, her voice trembling with desperation.
