Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 165

Cameron’s brows drew together, his voice sharp with contempt. “Goddaughter? Seriously? Lydia is our real daughter. You laid a hand on her, so get ready to spend the rest of your life in prison.”

Parker stared at him, totally stunned. “She’s your daughter with Kylie? Your biological daughter?”

“Yes. And you, after everything Kylie and I have done for you, this is how you repay us? This is how you treat our child? Did you really think I didn’t know about all those stunts you pulled at the company? I looked the other way, not because I was stupid, but because I didn’t want to upset Kylie. But you just kept pushing it. You got greedier, nastier, and then you tried to hurt my daughter.”

Cameron’s anger flared again. He stormed over and landed punch after punch on Parker.

Byron, standing off to the side, saw blood trickling down Parker’s face and realized things were getting out of hand. He hurried over and grabbed Cameron. “Mr. Norwood, please, that’s enough. You have to calm down. You can’t keep hitting him.”

If this went on, Parker might not even make it out alive.

Cameron roughing someone up in a police station was already crossing the line. Byron had let it go this far, understanding how desperate a father could be to protect his child. But there were limits.

Normally, Cameron was the calmest guy around. If he wasn’t so furious, he never would have snapped like this.

“He got off easy,” Cameron said with a cold snort.

The nerve of him, coming up with such a cruel scheme for Lydia. He didn’t deserve another word!

Cameron dug into his pocket for a handkerchief and wiped the blood from his knuckles, his expression full of disgust. He tossed the stained cloth into the trash like he couldn’t stand the sight of it.

Parker felt like he was about to pass out, pain radiating through every inch of his body. But his mind was reeling even harder from what he’d just learned about Lydia.

“I’m so sorry, Cameron, please. It was Lucinda, she told us Lydia was just your goddaughter. That’s why I did something so stupid, Cameron, I swear.”

Cameron looked at him, disbelief written all over his face. “What did you just say?”

Parker was sobbing now. “This afternoon, we went to Riverside Villas to apologize to you and Kylie, but you weren’t home. We ran into Lucinda. She told us Lydia was your goddaughter. I never would have dared hurt your real daughter.”

Cameron marched over and kicked Parker hard. “Liar. Lucinda would never say that. Don’t even think about blaming this on her.”

“I swear, it was her. She said Lydia came from some poor town, that you took her in because she saved Mr. Norwood, and you made her your goddaughter out of gratitude. If you don’t believe me, go ask her. I honestly didn’t know Lydia was your real daughter, Cameron. Please, I’m begging you, just give us one more chance. I’ll give every cent back to the company, just let us go, please.”
