Did they know something? Or maybe they were just pretending. Either way, that apology was beyond fake. It was so half-hearted it almost made Lydia laugh.
While she was still mulling it over, Milana sent another message.
[Luke’s literally fighting for his life and waiting for the surgery, so can you please stop badmouthing us to your grandmother?]
Lydia’s eyebrow ticked up. So this was about Grandma. It must have been her idea to make them apologize. That made sense. Milana would never say sorry on her own. Not in a million years.
She replied, [This is your idea of an apology? Seriously?]
Milana saw the message and instantly lost it.
“That little bitch! She really thinks she’s something, huh? Just because that old lady dotes on her, she thinks she can do whatever she wants.”
Sandy always loved moments like this. If her parents hated Lydia, that meant they loved her, their real daughter. Not the imposter who stole eighteen years of her life. Thinking about that was enough to make her grit her teeth at night.
Why should Lydia get to live the high life for eighteen years, while she’d been stuck in the middle of nowhere, barely scraping by?
“Mom, Lydia probably found herself some rich guy. That’s why she acts like she doesn’t need us anymore.”
Every time Sandy saw Lydia, she had a new, ridiculously hot man by her side. It made her blood boil.
“Hmph. She was born to be someone’s plaything. Just wait. One day, she’ll get what’s coming to her.”
While Milana was ranting, Lydia’s next message popped up.
Milana and Sandy both stared at the message, thinking maybe they’d read it wrong. But after checking again, it was right there. Lydia actually said she could do the surgery.
Milana started to laugh, humorless and sharp. Sandy just looked annoyed and completely unimpressed.
“Sandy, did you see that? Lydia actually claims she can perform Luke’s surgery. She’s so full of herself it’s almost impressive. If she keeps bragging, cows will start flying.”
“Mom, she’s totally lost it. Even Dean said only Miracle Hands can do the surgery. Who does Lydia think she is? She’s talking so much nonsense.”
Milana rolled her eyes and hammered out a reply, dripping with sarcasm.
[Lydia, if you can really do Luke’s surgery, I’ll get on my knees and bow to you a hundred times. No, a thousand times.]

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
