Lydia: [Aren’t you worried you’ll end up with a concussion?]
Milana tried to keep her temper in check.
[I’m serious, Lydia. If you really manage to operate on Luke, I’ll bow down and thank you a thousand times. But if you can’t, you’re the one who has to kneel and bow to me. Two thousand times.]
She was itching to see Lydia’s forehead bruised and battered, just for running her mouth like that.
Lydia: [Already took a screenshot. Sent it to Grandma as proof.]
Milana saw the message and scoffed, rolling her eyes. “She’s such a liar. She actually thinks she knows medicine? If that old woman tries to cover for her again, I swear I’ll make both of them pay for it.”
Please. Did Lydia really think she could just walk into a surgery? You needed a license for that. Did Lydia have one? Of course not. She was a total nobody, a walking disaster.
When Mrs. Smith got Lydia’s screenshot, she honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Her daughter-in-law seemed to go out of her way to cause trouble every day. What was she supposed to do about it?
Sandy, on the other hand, was starting to get a little worried about how confident Lydia sounded. “Mom, are you sure Lydia doesn’t actually know anything about medicine?”
How else could someone talk that big and still sound so sure of herself? She even made a bet over it.
Two thousand bows... Sandy was pretty sure someone would need an ambulance by the time that was over.
Milana just waved off Sandy’s concern. “Don’t worry, Sandy. Your dad and I watched that brat grow up. She likes to mess around with those useless herbs just like your grandma, but she doesn’t actually know anything. At best, she can tell a few plants apart. She’s not even qualified to be a nurse.”
She knew Lydia all too well.
“Really? It’s just... she sounded so sure of herself,” Sandy said, feeling uneasy. She’d never seen anyone talk like that unless they actually meant it.
Her eyes went wide in shock. She had to read it again just to be sure.
[Don’t say I didn’t warn you. If Sandy doesn’t sign the kidney donation consent form herself before the surgery, no one is going to operate on Luke.]
The meaning was obvious. Sandy had to do it willingly, and no one could force her.
“Mom, what... what is she saying?” Sandy felt like she’d been struck by lightning. Her face turned pale.
Milana hadn’t expected Lydia to bring up the kidney donation so suddenly. She just stared at Sandy, panic starting to creep in.
“Sandy, listen to me...”
“Mom, that’s not true, is it? She’s just trying to mess with us, right? Why would Luke’s surgery have anything to do with me? Why would I have to donate a kidney?”

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
