Milana could barely believe what she was hearing. Sandy was really asking for half of Smith Corporation’s assets? Did she even understand how much money that was? And she just wanted half, just like that?
“Sandy, you’re about to get married. Your father and I have promised we’ll give you a generous wedding, but the company’s assets aren’t just ours to give away. There are shareholders, investors, and most importantly, the majority of the Smith family shares are with your grandmother. Your father and I can’t decide this on our own.”
Everything Milana said was true, but the real truth was she had zero intention of giving Sandy that much. Sandy was a girl, and once she got married, she’d be part of her husband’s family. The Smith family fortune was meant for Luke, always had been. Giving Sandy half? That was never going to happen.
She kept her face calm, but inside, she was furious with Sandy. How could her own daughter be so shamelessly greedy? They were just asking for a kidney, and this was her answer? Was she really putting a price on her brother’s life?
But Sandy wasn’t clueless. She knew exactly what was going through her mother’s mind. Her eyes filled with tears, her voice trembling. “Mom, losing a kidney means losing half my health. I’m still going to marry Soren, but if he finds out I’m not healthy, he’ll just look down on me even more.
“And what about his parents? What will they think? What if I can’t have kids in the future? If you give me half the company, even if the Lane family doesn’t like me, they’ll have to respect me for it. At least then, my life there won’t be so hard.
“If you don’t want to, you might as well just let me die. It’s not like you care about me anyway.”
With that, Sandy broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.
Milana clenched her teeth, barely holding back her anger. Why was everyone in this family so impossible? And with Sandy’s outrageous request, any guilt Milana felt just vanished.
“Sandy, what if your father and I say no?” Her voice was cold.
“What?” Jenson was stunned. Half?
Milana gave a bitter laugh. “That’s right.”
The company was Jenson’s whole life. Now Sandy wanted half? She might as well be asking for his soul. Even when they took Lydia to the hospital to see if she was a match, Lydia never asked for anything like this.
“Sandy, we’re family. If you’re willing to help Luke, of course we’ll make sure you’re taken care of. But the company’s assets aren’t for your mother and me to decide. Most of the shares are still in your grandmother’s hands.”
“Dad, have you ever thought about this? If I refuse to give my kidney to my brother, one day, all of the Smith family’s assets will be mine anyway.” Sandy looked up, her gaze locked on Jenson, refusing to back down.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
