Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 238

If that was their plan, they had really messed up. Ms. Norwood wasn’t someone you could just push around. Honestly, they’d probably end up losing more than they bargained for.

Derek and Terrance stood there, completely at a loss.

“Ms. Norwood, the report we received doesn’t match your story. Maybe…” Derek started, clearly about to ask her to come down to the station, but Lydia just pulled out her phone, calm as ever, and handed it to them. She already had a video ready to go.

“We have security cameras outside our building. You’re welcome to check for yourself if I’m telling the truth.”

Both officers looked shocked. Had she actually been waiting for them to show up? No way.

They took the phone and watched the entire video, start to finish. When it ended, they had nothing to say.

Lydia watched them, her tone meaningful. “I hope you can help me get some justice.”

The two men exchanged a look, clearly uncomfortable. What were they supposed to do now? Miss Stein, the one lying in the hospital, was their deputy chief’s niece. Meanwhile, Ms. Norwood had proof, and now she wanted to press charges against Miss Stein and her friends. Honestly, they should never have come here.

“Ms. Norwood, as police officers, it’s our job to help the public, but unless you can give us the names of the girls in the video, it’s going to be hard for us to track them down quickly.”

Lydia lifted an eyebrow. “I can give you all their details. But are you really going to help me? If not, I can just report this to the First Division myself.”

The second Lydia mentioned the First Division, both officers snapped to attention. “Of course we can help you!” Terrance said quickly. “It’s just… Miss Stein, the one you… uh… kicked, is still in the hospital. She’s demanding an explanation. We’re in a tough spot…”

“Is that okay, officers?” Lydia asked when they didn’t answer.

The two men glanced at each other and then nodded. “That’s fine, Ms. Norwood.”

Josef walked them out, and Lydia slipped right back into her meeting, like nothing had happened. This little episode just made everyone in the room realize all over again that Lydia wasn’t your average young girl. She was smart, decisive, capable, and had some serious connections. Who would even dare to mess with her?

“Ms. Norwood…” The employees who had been so eager to quit were now sweating bullets. Nick, especially, looked like he didn’t know what to do. He was terrified that Lydia would call the First Division and have him hauled off with the rest. Just thinking about that place made him break out in a cold sweat. That’s where Parker’s family and all their cronies were being interrogated. It was his worst nightmare.

“Ms. Norwood, please… I’m begging you, give me another chance. I’ll take whatever assessment you need, I swear I’ll work hard, I’ll turn things around… I just need you to give me one more shot. Please!”
