Sierra froze, completely blindsided. She stood there like a statue, her mind blank and her hands turning cold. Was she hallucinating? How could that asshole possibly be sitting in the interviewer’s seat?
“Miss Morris, this is the president of our company, Ms. Norwood. She’ll be conducting your final interview personally,” the secretary at her side explained, trying to snap her out of it.
Sierra felt her heart drop. This was a disaster. It was really over. She never would have guessed that her nemesis was actually Greenward Power’s new president. What about Parker and Henry? What was going on? The woman in front of her looked even younger than she was. How could someone like her be in charge of a whole company?
Who was she, really?
“Miss Morris, please take a seat,” Lydia said, her voice calm as she slowly picked up Sierra’s resume.
That snapped Sierra out of her shock, but her mind was still spinning. She managed a stiff, “Thank you,” but even her own voice sounded strange to her. Her body felt numb, like her arms and legs didn’t belong to her.
“You graduated from Muse Design Academy. Impressive,” Lydia said, her expression unreadable.
Muse Design Academy was famous in the Capital, known for turning out top talent in fashion, jewelry, and architectural design. Most industry bigshots came from there. Sierra’s resume was impressive, filled with all the awards she’d won in school. That was why Lydia had chosen her in the first place. But now, Lydia wondered if her qualifications were exaggerated. Of the three interns she’d picked, Sierra was the only one who’d let her down.
Sierra nodded awkwardly. “Yes.” She had no idea what was happening. Lydia clearly recognized her, so why go through with the interview? Was she just showing off her power? Trying to embarrass her on purpose? The thought made Sierra’s cheeks burn with anger.
“With your background, you could have your pick of companies. Why did you choose Greenward Power?” Lydia asked.
Pulling her collar back up, Sierra hurried out of the Greenward Power building, feeling completely defeated.
She thought about warning Miranda not to mess with this new president, but Miranda wasn’t picking up. She tried calling Louise too, but no luck there either.
Forget it. She’d just go home and figure things out later.
Meanwhile, Lydia wrapped up her interviews at noon, and left the HR department, planning to stop by the hospital. As she reached the lobby, she spotted Jenny, Marissa, and a few others from the design department heading toward the elevators with their bags.

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
