Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 251

“Allen, any news? Did that girl finally confess?”

Miranda couldn’t stand the hospital. The place was too white, too cold, and the smell of disinfectant got on her nerves.

Her daughter, Louise, was even worse off. She lay in the hospital bed, complaining about how much her whole body hurt and how she just wanted to go home. Pretending to be sick was exhausting. Because her back was supposed to be injured, she couldn’t even get out of bed without risking gossip.

If Louise had to stay in this place any longer, she’d probably end up actually getting sick.

Miranda picked up her phone and called her brother again. If Lydia just confessed, all of this could be over. No more pretending. No more hospital.

Allen checked the time. It had been almost forty minutes since Corbyn last updated him. With Corbyn’s skills, dealing with a young girl should have been easy. This should have been finished by now.

“Corbyn hasn’t called me yet, but it’s probably handled. I’ll call and check in,” Allen said.

Miranda sighed. “Please do. Louise is miserable here. She just wants to go home.”

“Got it, I’ll find out what’s happening.”

Allen ended the call and dialed Corbyn’s number. No answer. He tried again. Still nothing.

He frowned, thinking Corbyn must be in the middle of the interrogation and couldn’t pick up. He decided to wait and try again in a few minutes, but then Corbyn called him back.

Allen relaxed a little, convinced the matter had been settled.

“Corbyn, how did it go?” he asked as soon as he picked up.

Corbyn hesitated. “Deputy Chief, this girl is really stubborn. No matter what I do, she won’t confess.”

“She’s already been tortured, right? Then hold her down and make her sign the papers. Do I really need to teach you something so simple, Corbyn?”

Corbyn got the message. “Yes, Deputy Chief. I’ll do it.”

“Just get it done. I’m busy.”

“Yes, sir.”

Allen had no idea what was really happening. Corbyn was surrounded by people, and Lydia was right there among them.

While Corbyn was on the phone, Lydia’s fingers flew over the keyboard. As soon as he hung up, she looked up and said, “He’s at the Neon Club on Kingsway.”
