Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 340

Potato, the guy on the other end of the line, got hyped the second he heard they were going to Triangle. “Lydia, are we going to throw down with someone? I’m so bored I might actually fall apart.”

Lydia just couldn’t with him. She shot back, “No.”

Potato’s excitement faded fast. “Whatever you say, Lydia. When are we heading out?”

She remembered she had a street race with Chris tomorrow night and did a quick mental check. “After ten.”

“Alright, Lydia. Got it.”

The next morning, Lydia was about to go downstairs when her phone rang. It was Kylie.

She thought maybe something had happened with her grandpa, so she answered right away. “Mom, what’s up?”

“Lydia, your grandpa says he’s bored at the hospital and wants to come home to recover. What do you think?”

Older folks really didn’t like hospitals, and Grandpa said he felt fine now, just waiting for his wound to heal up. Cameron and Kylie had been staying with him all day and night, barely eating or sleeping. Grandpa felt bad about it.

Lydia agreed right away. “Of course, that’s totally fine.”

Honestly, she’d thought about suggesting it herself, just hadn’t found the right moment yet.

“That’s great, honey. Your dad and I will take care of the discharge papers today. We’ll hire a nurse for the house, and if he needs an IV or meds, the driver can bring a doctor from the hospital.”

“Perfect. I’ll check on him myself when I get home from work tonight.”

“Thanks, Lydia. And make sure you’re getting enough rest at work too.”

“I will.”

Grace laughed. “Alright, alright, Lucinda. You’re so thoughtful and humble.”

“Honestly, Lucinda, you don’t have to be so careful. Lydia grew up in the countryside, so she didn’t have the same chances. If she likes piano, she can learn it too.”

Grace scoffed. “Learn? Piano isn’t something you pick up overnight. You have to start young, with a real teacher. And if you’re not talented, those famous maestros won’t even take you.”

Even Lucinda had to work hard to get Maestro Richie to accept her as a student.

“You’re right, Grace. Lydia’s amazing at medicine, Lucinda’s amazing at piano. Everyone’s got their own thing.”

Grace rolled her eyes at the maid who said that. Talk about missing the point.

Tina, who’d been waiting for a chance to jump in, smiled and said, “Exactly. Lydia isn’t just a great doctor. She’s the only person in the country to get a perfect score on the national exam. That’s seriously impressive.”
