Lucinda shot a glare at Tina, her eyes dark with frustration. That woman needed to be gone from the Norwood family, sooner or later. She was just impossible to ignore.
Grace rolled her eyes at Tina’s comment, letting out a little scoff. “Blake and Arthur both got perfect scores too, you know. Lydia isn’t the only one who can do it. Besides, Lucinda got a 735. That’s just fifteen points short.”
“So why didn’t she just score fifteen more?”
Lydia’s voice drifted over, cold and sharp. It landed so suddenly that Lucinda and Grace both froze in place.
Tina perked up right away when she saw Lydia coming down the stairs. Her voice was warm and respectful. “Lydia, good morning.”
Lydia gave a noncommittal sound, barely glancing at anyone else as she headed straight for the dining table. She sat across from Lucinda, looking cool and totally unbothered. “I want some water.”
Tina jumped to help. “Just a second, Lydia, I’ll get it for you.”
Lydia cut in. “If I remember right, didn’t someone say if I got a perfect score, they’d serve me water personally?”
She leaned back in her chair, looking effortless and relaxed, but her eyes were sharp with a kind of quiet rebellion.
Lucinda’s fists clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white.
Lydia. She was definitely doing this on purpose.
“What’s wrong? Thinking about backing out?” Lydia asked, her smile edged with sarcasm. “Should I call Grandpa and let him help you?”
Lucinda’s hands loosened all at once. She put on a soft, almost fragile smile and gave Lydia a look full of fake hurt. “Of course not. I’m honestly happy for you. I said I’d serve you and learn from you, and I meant it. If you want water now, I’ll get it right away.”
Lucinda swallowed her anger and got up, heading to the kitchen. She made sure to fill the glass with steaming hot water.
Pain shot through her so fast she couldn’t even catch her breath. She doubled over, grabbing the edge of the table, sweat breaking out on her forehead as she let out a choked cry.
Everything happened so quickly that Grace and the others barely understood what was going on. All they saw was Lucinda bent over, struggling to stay upright.
“Oh my god, Lucinda!”
Grace was the first to react, rushing over.
The glass hadn’t broken. It rolled across the floor, coming to a stop right in front of Grace’s foot.
She was so focused on Lucinda that she didn’t even see it. Her foot landed right on the glass, slipping out from under her, and with a loud crash she hit the floor.
Everyone just stared, completely stunned.

the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
