The window of the lead sports car slid down, and a cocky, red-haired guy leaned out, flashing a grin at Lydia and her crew.
“Well, look who it is. Chris and his little biker squad.”
Chris pulled off his helmet and shot the guy a cold look. “Nathaniel, move your cars. Your team’s blocking the road.”
Nathaniel just laughed, lazy and full of swagger. “It’s a public road. We’ll drive our way, you drive yours. Honestly, I think you’re the ones in our way.”
The road at Wind Canyon was wide, but Nathaniel’s crew had taken over both lanes.
“Nathaniel, what’s wrong with you? Turn around and look. Your people are blocking the whole road,” Chris snapped.
Nathaniel just shrugged, arm hanging out the window, looking like he owned the place. “I don’t see anyone blocking the road. Actually, looks like you’re blocking us.”
“Are you blind or just stupid?” a cool, calm voice cut in. Lydia’s words hung in the air.
Nathaniel raised his brows, a spark of interest in his eyes. “Oh? There’s a girl with you?”
“Nathaniel, shut up!” Chris barked. “She’s—”
Nathaniel cut him off with a smirk. “Oh, I get it. She’s the one who dealt with Neil for you, right? Come on, Chris, that’s just sad. You still needed a girl to step in and save your pride. Doesn’t that embarrass you?”
Chris shot him a cold look. “They say small eyes are sharp, but you can’t seem to focus at all. Let me introduce you. She’s the queen of motorcycle racing. Honestly, with your skills, you’re not even fit to carry her helmet.”
Nathaniel was fuming, completely losing his cool, but Chris’s comebacks were sharp as ever. He just couldn’t keep up.
“Chris, you’re just jealous. My eyes are bigger than yours, even when I squint. And her? The queen of motorcycle racing?” Nathaniel’s eyes slid over to Lydia, sizing her up.
She had the body of a model and a vibe that screamed confidence, but he wondered what her face was hiding.
He leaned out further, voice dripping with condescension. “So, little girl, since Chris thinks you’re so amazing, how about a race? You know how to drive, right? Or do you want me to give you a lesson?”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
