Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 386

Connor had always believed a real man never hit a woman, but Milana and Jenson were something else entirely. The things they’d done… even animals had more decency.

He couldn’t believe they’d actually turned on an old lady.

“Gag her,” he said, his voice calm but cold.

Aiden hurried over, clamped a hand over Milana’s mouth, and called for someone to bring a rag. He stuffed it in, muffling her furious cries.

Milana fought with everything she had, but the two bodyguards in black pressed her down to her knees and pinned her in place. She couldn’t move an inch.

“Hit her,” Connor ordered. “Don’t stop until her face is unrecognizable.”

His words sent a chill through the room.

That was when Milana finally saw who their attacker really was. It was that guy Lydia was always hanging around with. Her eyes filled with rage as she glared up at Connor, screaming behind the gag.

The sound of slaps echoed through the room, sharp and clear. Each one left her more dazed, her ears ringing and her cheeks burning.

Jenson lay sprawled on the floor, feeling like he’d died and come back to life. He reached for the knife, pulled it out carefully, and stared at the wound. It was about two centimeters deep, not enough to be fatal. He kept telling himself he’d be fine, that it wasn’t serious, but the pain was so fierce he broke out in a cold sweat.

“You… you…” he stammered, staring at Connor.

So it really was Lydia’s new man.

“I’m calling the cops!” Jenson shouted. In his mind, Connor was the one who stabbed him. He was determined to see this arrogant punk locked up.

Connor just let out a low laugh. “Let me do it for you. We’ll see what the police say when they find out how you and your wife tried to torture your own mother.”

She shook her head, her eyes heavy with sorrow. “Thank you, but there’s no need to call the police. I’ll handle this myself.”

“But…”

She cut him off, using the last of her strength. “From this moment on, I am no longer his mother. Whether he lives or dies, it’s none of my business. Tell him to leave. I never want to see him again. Ever.”

It took everything she had to say those words. She didn’t want to keep regretting the son she’d raised. All she wanted, for the rest of her life, was to never have to see him again.

“Mom! You’re really going to turn your back on your own son for a stranger? What about Luke and Sandy? You’re giving up on them too?” Jenson’s voice cracked as panic set in. If she really cut him off, he could kiss his chance at the shares goodbye.

“Don’t call me mom. I’m not your mother anymore. As for Luke, I’ll put money into the hospital account for his care and nothing more.”
