Lucinda gave a soft, skeptical laugh. “Of course you’re going to say the clothes here are great. You work here.”
At the sound of her voice, Paige spun around, eyes bright with excitement. “Lucinda, look at this one. Isn’t it gorgeous? Miss L designed it herself. There are only a hundred in the world, and just ten available here.”
Lucinda shrugged, her tone casual. “Honestly, I think it’s just alright.”
Paige just grinned. “Well, we don’t have the same style anyway. It makes sense you’d think that.” Then she turned to the sales associate, her energy infectious. “Can you bring out something that fits her usual vibe? Let her try it on and see if she still says she’s not interested.”
Paige knew Lucinda’s taste inside out. Every time LYLX dropped a new collection, no matter the season, Lucinda had to get her hands on it first. That’s why, the moment Paige got the store’s notification, she called Lucinda to come with her.
But today, Lucinda was acting out of character. “I’m good. I don’t feel great today. I don’t really want to try anything on.”
Paige’s eyes went wide. “Wait, really? You’re not even going to try? So you’re not buying anything?”
Lucinda looked completely unfazed. “If I’m not trying, I’m definitely not buying.”
Paige stared at her in disbelief. “Seriously? You’re just going to walk away? I saw a dress earlier that’s exactly your style. You always love this kind of thing.”
“Lucinda, this dress is made for you. It’s so pretty,” Paige said, her voice full of awe. Miss L really was in a league of her own. Every dress she designed was a showstopper.
Lucinda couldn’t help herself. She stepped forward and reached out to touch the fabric. It was a blend of soft cashmere, cozy yet with a beautiful drape, and so smooth it felt like touching silk. She could already imagine how nice it would feel to wear.
The manager caught the look in her eyes and smiled. “Miss Norwood, if you pair this dress with the right heels and a cute little clutch, you’ll be the star of the season.”
Lucinda blinked, her hesitation gone. “Alright. Let me try it on.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
