Harry perked up, hope flickering in his eyes. “Okay, Mr. Smith. I’ll keep everyone calm, I promise!”
Jenson ended the call, his face set with determination. He turned to Milana. “Come on, let’s head back to Fortune Pawnshop.”
Milana dragged her feet, her heart heavy. These things meant the world to her. The idea of letting them go for next to nothing hurt more than she wanted to admit.
Sandy noticed her hesitation and chimed in, “Mom, we really don’t have a choice right now. We need the cash. When Dad’s doing better, he’ll buy you something even nicer.”
Jenson backed her up, “Exactly. Even Sandy gets it. You should too.”
Milana wanted to snap at Sandy. Of course it was easy for her to stay calm. None of this was hers.
“Fine. Forty million. Whatever.” She sighed, defeated. There was no other way.
When they got back to the pawnshop, Jenson felt his cheeks burn. He remembered what he’d said earlier about not coming back. Now here he was, tail between his legs.
But there was no time for pride. If he didn’t bring back money today, the people causing trouble at the office would tear him apart.
Maverick greeted them at the door, still smiling politely. “Welcome back, sir, ma’am. Have you made a decision?”
That friendly attitude took a little of the steam out of Milana’s anger. They’d already checked around. Fortune Pawnshop was offering the best price and they’d pay in cash.
Milana nodded. “Yes, we’ll take the forty million for both sets. We need the money right away. Otherwise, trust me, I’d never agree to this price.”
Maverick nodded. “Understood. Please wait while I call my boss to confirm.”
Milana’s head spun with anger. “Call your boss. I want to speak to them myself.”
Maverick paused, then nodded. “Of course. One moment, please.”
Honestly, you had to admit, their customer service was top-notch.
Soon, Maverick was on the phone. The woman who answered sounded young, laid-back, and more than a little impatient. “Now what?”
Maverick spoke with respect. “Boss, the clients want to talk to you.”
Juna didn’t waste time. “If thirty million isn’t good enough for them, make it twenty. If they want to pawn, do the paperwork now. If not, we’re done here.”

the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
