Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 528

The phone was on speaker, so everyone heard the offer. Milana’s heart sank. She was so angry she almost passed out right then.

“You… you people… this is too much.”

Jenson was furious too, gripping his phone so hard his knuckles turned white. This so-called famous pawnshop in the Capital was a total joke!

“How is this not the same as daylight robbery?” he snapped.

Juna’s voice drifted through the phone, cool and careless. “I’m just running a business. You want to pawn it, fine. If not, you’re free to leave. No one is robbing you.”

Milana had already thought forty million was low, but now they were dropping it to twenty. She felt like she’d been pushed off a cliff.

“There’s nothing left to say. Jenson, let’s go. There’s no way this is the only pawnshop in a city this big,” Milana said, her voice trembling with anger.

Juna sounded bored. “Think it through. If you walk out now and come back later, the offer will be ten million. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. That’s it, I’m hanging up.”

The line went dead. Milana and Jenson had already turned to leave, but now they just stood there, frozen.

Sandy rushed over, lowering her voice. “Dad, Mom, pawnshops are all kind of shady, right? If this one’s dropping the price, the others might too.”

Jenson and Milana just stared at the door. Should they leave, or should they stay? They couldn’t decide.

Milana’s temper snapped. She stormed in and shouted, “Where are the cleaners? The lobby is the face of the company. How can nobody be taking care of it?”

Only one receptionist was left, a girl fresh out of college named Wendy. She hurried over, looking nervous. “Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, there’s just one janitor left, and she called in sick today.”

Milana glared at her. “She’s not here, so you couldn’t clean up yourself? This is your responsibility, isn’t it?”

Wendy’s face turned red. She’d spent her whole morning calming down reporters and business partners, running around serving tea and water, barely catching her breath. Now, after all that, Jenson and Milana finally showed up and started yelling at her instead of even noticing her efforts.

Her heart sank. If she wasn’t so grateful that the company gave her a shot as a new grad, she would have quit a long time ago.
