“I’ll wait for her to wake up and clear my name.”
Lydia didn’t say anything else to Sandy. She turned around, her expression cool and unreadable, and walked away without looking back.
Sandy stared after her, hands clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white.
*
Connor had been putting off work just to stay with Lydia. In the end, Lydia had to practically force him to go back to the office and handle everything that had piled up. Her grandmother’s condition was stable now, but no one could say when she might wake up. Lydia could only hold on to hope. She believed that as long as neither of them gave up, she’d find a way to help her grandmother recover.
Sandy, meanwhile, went down to the police station with Milana to give her statement about what happened. Byron even took a team out to Lakeview Town to investigate, but everything they found matched what Lydia and Connor had already discovered. Sandy’s story checked out perfectly. It really did look like the old lady had just slipped and fallen down the stairs.
Once the police confirmed it, Jenson, Milana, and Sandy suddenly had all the confidence in the world. They started loudly blaming Lydia for being suspicious, saying she was always trying to throw dirt on them. They even threatened to sue her for slander if she didn’t stop.
Lydia couldn’t care less about their drama. Let them dig their own graves, she thought. She buried herself in work, sketching out new designs and launching Greenward Power’s fall collection. The response was explosive. The whole fashion world was buzzing, and the new line sold out in just three days. The sales numbers were almost unbelievable.
“Lydia, can you believe it? In three days, Greenward Power’s orders have already beaten the last three years combined!” Kylie said, still in shock.
“No wonder you turned LYLX into a global brand,” Cameron added, full of admiration. “Your designs are incredible. People can’t get enough of them.”
“It’s all thanks to everyone’s hard work,” Lydia said honestly.
“Sweetheart, what’s not right about it?” Cameron said gently. “If it wasn’t for you, Parker would’ve shut the place down ages ago. The employees all appreciate you. They trust you and want to work with you. If you step away, do you really think they’ll be as motivated as they are now?”
After a lot more encouragement from Cameron and Kylie, Lydia finally agreed.
No one noticed Lucinda in the corner, digging her fingernails so hard into her palms she nearly broke the skin. Before Lydia came back, she had never felt so useless. All the talents and skills she had worked on since she was a child felt meaningless every time Lydia was in the room.
Cameron and Kylie were thrilled. They had even more good news.
“Lydia, your brother Elliot is coming home tomorrow. Why don’t you invite Connor too? Let’s all have dinner together.”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
