Now that Smith Corporation had bounced back from its financial mess, Sandy was officially the heiress everyone talked about.
She watched Soren with a half-smile, her eyes narrowing just a little. “Thanks.”
To be honest, there was a time Sandy had really cared about Soren. They hadn’t done anything serious, but in her heart, she saw him as her fiancé. That made it sting even more when he let her down.
Soren could tell she was treating him differently now, but he just brushed it off. He smiled, trying to act casual. “Are you hungry? Want me to grab you some dessert?”
“I’m good,” Sandy said, shutting him down.
He tried again. “How about some juice? I remember you like juice.”
Sandy ignored him, so Soren walked off himself and came back with a glass of juice and a small plate of her favorite pastries.
“Sandy, I got you all the things you like.”
She looked at the food and drink, then let out a cold laugh. “People change. I used to like this stuff. Not anymore.”
Soren seemed to pick up on what she was really saying. He looked guilty. “Sandy, I’m sorry. It’s all on me. At the charity gala, I should’ve listened to you. I messed up with the Davis family. If I’d just listened, my family wouldn’t have…”
Sandy cut him off with a mocking look. “And before the gala? Where were you then?”
Soren’s face stiffened. He coughed, clearly uncomfortable. “Sandy, before that… I was just really busy. I—”
She snorted. “Please. You just couldn’t handle that I lost a kidney. You thought I wasn’t whole anymore, right?”
He had nothing to say to that.
Sandy went on. “Oh, by the way, I don’t think I ever told you. Even though I gave Luke a kidney, I got half of the Smith family fortune in return. From now on, whatever Luke gets, I get the same.”
Soren stared at her, eyes wide, looking like he’d just been hit with a ton of bricks.
This was brutal. Half the Smith family assets was a fortune for him now.
“Sandy, listen, I really do like you. My feelings haven’t changed. Not ever,” Soren said as he reached for her hand.
Sandy didn’t pull away. She let him hold her hand, but her smile was sharp. “Is that so?”
Soren nodded, dead serious. “Yes, Sandy. Back then… it was my parents. They said you weren’t whole anymore, that you might not be able to have kids. They wouldn’t let me talk to you, wouldn’t let me see you. It was all them, not me.”
He dumped all the blame on his parents, acting like the perfect son.
“So you are still into me?” Sandy asked.
“Yes, Sandy. I really am. I only love you. You have to believe me.”
Sandy stared at him, her voice calm. “You’re not worried I can’t have kids anymore?”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
