Soren froze.
Sandy rolled her eyes and yanked her hand away. “You’re all so worried I can’t have kids, but honestly, I wouldn’t have them for your family even if I could.”
She had made up her mind. For her own sake, she was done with the idea of having children.
“Sandy, I really believe that if two people truly love each other, it doesn’t matter if they have kids or not. We’re young. The old folks just have outdated ideas. I promise, if you don’t want children, I’ll never push you.”
Sandy took in Soren’s pleading face, so handsome and earnest, and she suddenly realized how powerful money could be. It could bring even the proudest person to their knees.
Back when she first returned to the Smith family, she’d done everything she could to win Soren’s heart, desperate to be good enough, always trying to please him. Now, was Soren finally getting a taste of what that felt like?
She gave him a cold look. “When I needed you, you were never there. So from now on, don’t bother showing up for me, either.”
She stood up and walked away without looking back.
Soren watched her leave, his frustration boiling over as he slammed his hand on the table.
When Sandy was gone, Vivia finally walked over. “Soren, did she tell you how Smith Corporation managed to bounce back this time?”
Soren glared at his parents. “Mom, this is all on you. If you hadn’t kept insisting Sandy couldn’t have children, I wouldn’t have pushed her away. Now she can’t stand the sight of me.”
Vivia looked hurt. “Soren, with her health, she probably can’t have kids anyway. And what’s so great about her? She’s just some girl from the countryside. Even in designer clothes, she still seems so tacky.”
“But now she owns half of Smith Corporation. Whoever marries her gets that half.”
Vivia stared at him, shocked. “What?”
Vivia shot Soren a look that said, Don’t listen to your father.
At that moment, Milana strolled over, looking smug. “Well, if it isn’t Mr. Lane. So, Mr. and Mrs. Lane, how’s life treating you these days?”
Clark and Vivia’s faces darkened instantly.
Milana was clearly there to rub salt in their wounds.
Vivia huffed, “Milana, don’t act like this doesn’t have anything to do with you. You played a part in our downfall.”
Milana just raised an eyebrow. “Your company failed because you didn’t know how to run it. Don’t try to blame us for your own mess. If you want to point fingers, maybe start by looking in the mirror.”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
