Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 648

Luke spotted Soren coming out and narrowed his eyes.

Soren. He’d never liked the guy, and right now, he couldn’t stand him even more.

“I’m here to see… my sister,” Luke said.

Soren acted clueless. “Who? Your sister? Lydia?”

Luke knew Soren was just messing with him. “Sandy.”

Soren let out a laugh. “Sandy? The suspect? Why would she be here? Do I look crazy enough to let her into my house?”

“Let her out. She’s not a suspect,” Luke said, keeping his tone flat.

Soren snorted. “Luke, are you trying to pull one over on me? She’s not a suspect? You think I’m stupid? Your parents have been eating prison food for a while now, haven’t they?”

Luke’s frown deepened, and the whole mood around him turned icy.

Soren caught it and just laughed, even more smug than before. “Oh, that’s right. You’re the one who sent them there! Luke, I’ve got to ask. What was going through your head when you decided to send your own parents to jail? I used to think you were soft, but wow, you’re a lot colder than I thought.”

“Shut up,” Luke snapped, his eyes blazing.

Soren grinned. “What, did I hit a nerve? You did it, but you can’t handle me calling you out? You little traitor.”

“I said shut up!” Luke’s voice was sharp and raw.

Soren just rolled his eyes. “You still think your family’s at the top in Lakeview? Luke, you’re just a stray now. No, worse, a sick stray. And you did this to yourself.”

“I told you to shut up!”

Luke let out a low growl, then suddenly lunged forward. Out of nowhere, he landed a solid punch right to Soren’s face.

“Trying to act tough on my turf? What, you want to get back into the hospital?” Soren pressed his foot down harder.

Luke was in so much pain he couldn’t even get a word out.

Inside the house, Sandy had been hiding in the dog cage. When she heard the commotion and realized Luke was losing, she rushed to the window and peeked outside.

She saw him down there, pale as a ghost, Soren’s foot pinning him to the ground. Luke couldn’t fight back at all.

Seeing him like that, she felt a weird sense of relief.

Luke was nothing but a backstabber. If not for him, the Smith family wouldn’t be in this mess.

She’d even given him a kidney to save his life. If she’d known he’d turn out so heartless, she would’ve just let him die.

Now he was even working with Lydia to hunt her down. Disgusting. She hoped Soren would just go ahead and beat him to death. That would make things a whole lot simpler.
