Soren stood there, grinning like he owned the world, his foot pressed right into Luke’s chest. “Luke, come on. For old time’s sake, just call me kiss my boots. I’ll let you walk. If not, I’ll make sure you end up at the station with your parents.”
Luke’s jaw tightened as he bit down hard, his face pale but his eyes burning with stubborn fire. He wasn’t going to say a word. Not a chance.
Soren’s smirk just grew wider. “What’s the matter? You really want a little family reunion behind bars?”
Luke glared up at him, struggling to fight back one last time. Just then, the screech of brakes echoed through the air, sharp enough to make everyone flinch.
Before Soren could figure out what was going on, something hit his leg so hard he yelped, stumbling back. “Ow! What the… Who is it—”
He didn’t even finish. Lydia stormed in, all ice-cold energy and no-nonsense glare, heading straight for him.
“Ms. Norwood, wait—” Soren started, but Lydia didn’t bother with words. She kicked him so hard he went flying, crashing to the ground with a scream that sounded like a dying animal.
Lydia didn’t even look at him. She went straight to Luke, crouching down and reaching out her hand.
Luke was still lying there, but when he looked up and saw Lydia, haloed by the light behind her, it was like all his pain just faded away.
From her spot by the window, Sandy watched it all go down. She never thought Lydia would show up so fast. Now she was sure—Luke was here to spy for Lydia.
Ungrateful bastard! She’d given him a kidney, and saved his life. And now he was teaming up with Lydia against her? What a traitor!
Panicking, Sandy scrambled back into the dog cage, yanking the curtain shut and trying to disappear.
Meanwhile, Soren lay sprawled on the floor, feeling like he’d been shattered into a thousand pieces as he watched Lydia pull Luke up. He wanted to curse, but he kept his mouth shut for once.
He couldn’t help but regret everything. Back when Lydia was his fiancée, why hadn’t he made her his? If he had, maybe she’d be doing whatever he said right now. Too late for that.
He yelled at the top of his lungs, “Sandy, you bitch! Get out here, now!”
Sandy, still hiding in the dog cage, flinched when she heard Soren shouting.
What now? Lydia’s really here to get her.
“Sandy! Get out here, now!”
When Sandy still didn’t show, Luke headed inside, grabbed a housekeeper, and asked, “Where’s Sandy?”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
