She had done some digging online and learned that Lydia was just a small-town girl from Lakeview, nothing special. Sure, she was a bit smarter than most and had picked up some international academic awards, but did that mean she could act like she owned the place?
People from little towns just didn’t get it. Their world was so small.
Daisy was convinced that if she’d wanted those awards back when she was younger, she could have taken them easily. She just hadn’t bothered. In the end, Lydia was just another poor kid hoping her grades would change her future. She had no right to strut around like she was better than everyone else. Compared to her family, the Rivers family, who were basically royalty in the Capital, what did Lydia even have? Nothing.
Out on the balcony, Lydia picked up Connor’s call.
“You back at the dorm?” he asked.
Lydia nodded, even though he couldn’t see her. “Yeah.”
“Training starts tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
Connor chuckled, his voice warm and teasing. “With your skills, do you actually need to go through training? You could probably run circles around everyone there. The instructors wouldn’t even stand a chance.”
Lydia smiled. “I have to go. Our scores count toward the class average, and every freshman class is competing. I’m not about to let everyone say I was the weak link.”
Connor sounded amused. “I should’ve signed up to be your instructor.”
He let out a sigh, clearly regretting he couldn’t be there. Too bad he had to go on a business trip. Was it too late to change his plans?
Lydia’s lips twitched. “Are you trying to get us both on the front page?”
He laughed. “I’d love to be on the front page with you.”
Lydia just rolled her eyes. He was impossible sometimes.
They kept talking for almost twenty minutes before Lydia had to cut in. “It’s getting late. My roommates are about to sleep.”
After overhearing Lydia’s phone call, Daisy had already judged her a thousand times. In her mind, Lydia was obviously being kept by some older man, and for what? Money.
So shallow.
Daisy couldn’t stand girls like Lydia, the kind who would sell themselves just to get ahead.
Lydia’s smile faded. “How is that any of your business?”
Daisy shot her a look. “It’s not. But sharing a room with someone who’d sell her body for money? That’s just disgusting.”
Daisy had never liked Lydia. She’d been annoyed all day, and now that she thought she’d found Lydia’s dirty little secret, she just had to rub it in.
Lydia’s eyes went cold, her patience running thin.
Daisy was really testing her limits.

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
