Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 740

When Kylie and Cameron heard the news, they beamed with pride. “Yeah, Lydia and Lucinda are both incredible. They really are the pride of the Norwood family.”

Lucinda’s parents brushed past her first-place win like it was nothing. The way they acted so casual made her want to scream. Lydia’s win had been a huge deal, everyone had heard about it. But when it came to her own achievement, this was all she got? Her parents were definitely playing favorites, and it was starting to drive her crazy.

Back upstairs, Lucinda stormed into her room, dragging Grace in with her. “Grace, didn’t you say the stuff about Lydia and Jay at school would drag on, that her reputation would take a real hit? Why is everyone online suddenly singing her praises?”

Lucinda had worked herself to the bone during training just to take first place. She figured by the time it was over, Grace would have made sure Lydia had really fallen from grace.

But instead, the gossip about Lydia and Jay just fizzled out. Even worse, Connor hadn’t changed at all. He was still as thoughtful and gentle with Lydia as ever, acting like nothing had happened. How was that fair?

Grace was just as frustrated. “It was your parents. They shut down the online trolls. I got nervous they’d trace it back to me, so I stopped contacting the media. But don’t worry. Lydia’s made an enemy of the Gibson family now. Things aren’t going to be easy for her. The Gibsons aren’t the type to let things go. We just have to wait and watch the drama unfold.”

Honestly, Rosie had been a lifesaver when it came to Lucinda’s plans. Too bad the Gibsons failed tonight. If they’d succeeded, Lydia’s reputation would be ruined and she’d never be able to show her face around Connor again.

Lucinda couldn’t hold back her bitterness. “The Gibsons are useless. They can’t even handle Lydia.”

Kylie had Lydia sit down at the vanity, then gently started blow-drying her hair with careful, loving hands. “By the way, about those people on your school forum who tried to smear you with rumors about you and Jay… whoever was behind it was really careful. We traced their IP once, and it was at your school, but after that, nothing. They probably uploaded the photos, then got rid of their phone.”

Kylie and Cameron had been furious when they couldn’t find out who was responsible. They ended up sending legal letters to all the smaller trolls, just to make a point.

Lydia thought for a moment. “I’ll look into it myself when I have a chance.” She’d been away training for the past ten days and hadn’t had time to deal with the person slandering her. Now that she finally had a break, it was time to settle the score.

The next morning, for the first time in ages, Lydia let herself sleep in. She didn’t get up until nine.
