The man leading the group looked to be in his late forties. He stood tall and straight, every bit as commanding as a pine tree in winter. His dark suit fit perfectly, highlighting his natural authority. In his neatly combed hair, a few silver strands caught the light, quiet reminders of the years he’d lived and everything he’d seen. His eyebrows were sharp, framing a pair of dark, intense eyes that seemed to see right through you. With just a glance, he could make anyone feel small. His nose was straight and proud, and when his lips pressed together, there was no doubting who was in charge. The lines on his face were strong, the beginning of wrinkles hinting at all he’d been through, each one a story of power and history. The air around him felt charged, like everyone instinctively knew he was the one in control.
This was William, Kylie’s brother, and one of the most influential people in the country’s political scene right now. Mabel and Nathaniel walked on either side of him. Behind them, a team of bodyguards in black suits carried armfuls of gifts, their serious faces showing just how important this visit was.
When Kylie saw them, her eyes filled with tears, blurring her vision. She hadn’t truly seen her brother since she married Cameron more than twenty years ago. She never thought she’d see this day. She’d convinced herself that William would never recognize her as his sister again.
“William, Mabel, Nathaniel… you’re really here…” Kylie’s voice shook with emotion.
William didn’t answer at once. Instead, Mabel stepped forward with a smile. “Kylie, Lydia saved me before. William came today especially to thank her. Aren’t you going to invite him in?”
William was just as stubborn as Mr. Norwood. For all these years, he’d cut off the Norwoods and never once stepped into his sister’s home. But Mabel always knew, deep down, that William cared about Kylie. He’d been quietly watching over the Norwood family all this time.
Just yesterday, he’d heard that his reckless sister-in-law and niece tried to kidnap Lydia, with Jackson backing them up. William finished his work early that morning and came straight over, worried his little sister and niece would get hurt.
Kylie’s feelings surged like a wave. She nodded over and over, ushering everyone inside.
Once they were in the house, William spotted Mr. Norwood and went over to greet him, asking about his health. Mr. Norwood looked genuinely happy. After more than twenty years, his daughter-in-law’s family had finally come to visit, and he was glad for both Kylie and Cameron.
Cameron personally brought coffee for William and Mabel, his whole attitude careful and courteous. “William, Mabel, please have some coffee.”
Nathaniel sat awkwardly to the side, feeling invisible. Just as he started to sulk, Tina appeared with a steaming cup, handing it to him with extra care. “Mr. Nathaniel, please enjoy some coffee.”
Tina hurried forward again. “Mr. Nathaniel, I’ll make you another cup.”
“Thank you,” he replied hoarsely.
Mabel shot Nathaniel a playful glare, then turned to Lydia with a bright smile and beckoned her over. “Lydia, come here and meet your uncle.”
Lucinda hadn’t really met William before, only seen him on TV. Now, when Mabel called for Lydia and not her, jealousy burned inside her. She watched, resentment in her eyes, as Lydia walked over to William.
“Uncle William,” Lydia said politely, her voice steady and clear.

thank u!...

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
