Kylie felt completely torn up inside. It was like thinking your kid was the star student in class, only to find out all those good grades were actually someone else’s work. Right now, she almost wished Lucinda was telling the truth and that Tina’s burned hand really was just an accident. But deep down, even Kylie couldn’t bring herself to believe Lucinda’s story.
“Mom, I swear I didn’t mean it. It just happened, I wasn’t careful...” Lucinda’s eyes were red, as if she had just suffered the biggest injustice.
Lydia cut in, her voice calm. “Why would Tina bring you a cup of boiling water when it’s this hot outside?” Just by looking at Tina’s burn, anyone could tell it was from scalding water.
Lucinda jumped in first. “I have no idea why she brought me such hot water. If I hadn’t moved fast, I’d be the one with burns right now.”
Tina shook her head. “That’s not true, sir, ma’am. Miss Lucinda asked me to bring her a cup of boiling water. When I handed it over, I’m not sure if it was on purpose or not, but the water ended up spilling all over my hand.”
Things had gotten to a point where if Tina didn’t speak up, Lucinda would probably pin everything on her and say Tina was out to hurt her. Having worked for the Norwood family all these years, Tina knew Lucinda wasn’t nearly as sweet or innocent as she pretended to be. If she was, she wouldn’t have allowed Grace to bully the staff so openly.
Still, Tina never expected Lucinda to be so bold, lying to everyone’s face like this. Did they really have no right, just because they were staff? Was it really okay for Lucinda to insult, hit, or even frame them, just because there weren’t any cameras?
“Tina! You tried to burn me, but I dodged and you ended up getting hurt yourself. Now you’re saying I did it on purpose? You think you’re really something, don’t you?” Lucinda was so angry, her face turned bright red.
If she was the real Norwood heiress, she could treat the staff however she wanted and no one would stop her. Lydia was only making a fuss about this because she wanted to catch Lucinda messing up and use it as a reason to throw her out of the family. It was just so unfair.
Tina turned to Lydia, her eyes honest and steady. “Miss Lydia, I’m telling the truth.”
Kylie looked confused. “But Lydia, the butler said all the footage was wiped.”
“Deleted files can be recovered,” Lydia replied. Then she turned to Judy. “Can you grab my laptop from my room?”
Judy could hardly hide her excitement. “Right away, Miss Lydia!” She took off running.
Thank goodness. If they could bring up the security video from today, they could finally clear Tina’s name and show everyone who was really lying.

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
