Lucinda folded her arms, still looking annoyed. “Well, at least you know now.”

Caspian nodded right away. “Okay, then let’s check out some other shops. I want to get you a few new outfits.”

Lucinda shot him a look.

A few outfits? Seriously?

He really thought a couple of outfits would win her over?

Caspian caught her expression and realized he’d put his foot in his mouth. Lucinda was the daughter of the wealthiest man in the country. Did she really need him to buy her clothes?

He quickly added, “And bags, and jewelry too. We can look at whatever you want. I heard the brands here have some really amazing stuff.”

Lucinda’s face finally relaxed a little. That was more like it.

“Let’s go.”

They walked into a well-known designer bag store. The saleswoman greeted them with a big smile and welcomed them inside.

Caspian didn’t waste time. “Can you show us all your latest bags?”

A lot of the bags here were global limited editions and sold out like crazy. The prices were insane too.

But then the saleswoman gave them an apologetic smile. “Would you like to see anything from last year’s collection? Our designs are all timeless. For example, the Starbright series from last year was a huge hit. There’s only one left in stock.”

Lucinda knew exactly which collection she was talking about. The starting price was in the millions.

“I already have it,” she replied, sounding completely unimpressed.

Did they really think she’d settle for last year’s leftovers?

Or did Caspian look like someone who couldn’t afford the new ones?

This store wasn’t cheap. Someone actually bought every new bag in stock? That was some serious spending power.

Caspian suddenly felt awkward, like he was totally outclassed.

She walked straight out, and Caspian hurried to catch up. “Lucinda, let’s try another store, okay?”

He was determined. He’d find a brand she liked and buy every new bag they had, just like that other guy.

But when they finally found another boutique, the saleswoman there told them the exact same thing. “I’m sorry, sir, miss, but all our new bags have sold out for the day. Would you like to see styles from previous collections?”
