Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 848

Even though Kevin was older, men never really settle down unless they absolutely have to. With his reputation and status, if he ever wanted anything, he could just snap his fingers and have a line of young girls chasing after him.

Yara shook her head, just a little. “Tina, stop making stuff up. Grandpa Kevin isn’t like that.”

Tina made a face. “Then why is he sneaking around the lab so late at night? The lights are still on upstairs. Maybe he’s hiding someone in there. No wonder he won’t even let you inside.”

Yara frowned, just a bit.

Her grandpa was the vice principal, and she’d always been one of the top students. She could even handle basic surgeries by herself now. People said she was a medical genius, that her future was basically set. But even with all that, when she tried to get into the special lab, Grandpa Kevin shot her down without a second thought. He didn’t care about her pride at all.

But last time, she’d clearly seen Kevin bringing another girl into that same lab.

And now, here it was again.

She couldn’t help but wonder who was in the upstairs lab. Was it the same girl as before?

“Come on, let’s just go. And Tina, really, don’t spread rumors.”

Tina rolled her eyes. “Yara, you’re way too nice. If I were you, I’d be walking into any lab I wanted. If Mr. Moore said no, I’d just do it anyway.”

Yara sighed. “There have to be rules. Let’s go.”

The next morning, Fiona and Monica were scrambling to get to class, but Lydia was dead asleep and wouldn’t budge.

Monica started to panic. She tugged at Lydia’s blanket again. “Lydia, come on, wake up! We have class!”

Lydia was seriously not a morning person. She just yanked the blanket over her head, her voice all muffled. “I’m skipping it.”

Students trickled into the classroom. The bell rang, but Lydia’s seat was still empty.

Silvia walked in, dressed in her usual business suit, looking like a storm was about to break. She pulled out her phone and called Lydia, but there was no answer.

She tried three times. Still nothing.

Fiona saw Silvia’s face getting darker and quickly raised her hand. “Professor, I forgot to mention, Lydia isn’t feeling well. She asked us to let you know.”

Monica chimed in too. “Yeah, professor, she’s not feeling well. She needs to take a sick day.”

Silvia let out a cold laugh. “I’ve told you before, no calling in sick for other people. If she wanted a day off, why didn’t she call me herself? I just tried three times and she didn’t pick up. This is getting out of hand.”
