The nurses at the station and a few doctors rushed over the moment they heard the commotion. As soon as word spread that Lydia had come up with an antidote, the whole place burst into excited chatter.
“Thank God, we finally have an antidote.”
“My mom can be saved now. She only got infected because she brought me food. Now she’s fighting for her life. Dr. Norwood, please, you have to help her!”
“Please, Dr. Norwood, this virus is terrifying. We’ve already lost so many people in our hospital...”
“Dr. Norwood, things are really bad. If you really have an antidote, I’m begging you, go help them.”
The medical staff couldn’t hold back their tears anymore, fear shining in their eyes as they faced the disaster unfolding around them.
Spencer glared at everyone, his patience gone. “What’s wrong with all of you? Have you lost your minds?”
Vincent’s eyes were red as he finally spoke up, unable to keep the truth hidden any longer. “Spencer, Dr. Norwood brought the antidote. There’s no point in hiding anything from her. Solving this and saving the infected is what actually matters.”
Since the virus first appeared at the border, every single one of them had been fighting with everything they had. But no matter how hard they worked, the number of infections only kept climbing. The director, the deputy, all the top doctors had thrown themselves into the battle, but one by one, they got infected too. The death toll was rising every single day. They were barely holding it together, wondering when this nightmare would end.
Spencer had locked down all information, saying he didn’t want the higher-ups blaming them for failing to contain the outbreak. He insisted they wait for the research institute to come up with a cure. Nobody knew if it was the right thing to do, but seeing people outside still going about their lives, completely unaware of the danger, made them think maybe it was better to keep things quiet and avoid panic.
Spencer scoffed. “You’re seriously overestimating yourself. You have no idea how dangerous this virus is. You really believe one tiny pill is going to fix everything? That’s just wishful thinking.”
Lydia met his gaze. “Sounds like you know a lot about this virus.”
Spencer shot back quickly. “Of course I do. We fight it every day. Here’s what we’ll do. Since you say this is the antidote, hand it over so we can test it first. If it checks out, then we’ll give it to the patients.”
Lydia arched an eyebrow. “The formula for this antidote is top secret right now. Why are you so eager to know what’s inside? What’s your real reason?”

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
