Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 903

Lydia let out a cold laugh. “Did you really think wiping the hospital’s surveillance footage would stop me from finding it?”

Spencer’s eyes went wide with disbelief. “But I paid someone to wipe it clean!”

He had gone out of his way to hire a top hacker, terrified that someone might recover the data. Lydia wasn’t interested in arguing.

“If you tell us everything, I can keep your family safe.” Her tone was steady and serious.

Spencer didn’t buy it for a second. How could a young nurse like Lydia protect his family?

“Who do you think you are? My parents, my wife, my kid, they’re all in their hands. Are you really going to save them?” Spencer’s voice cracked as he shouted.

Did they really think he wanted to do any of this? He was being forced. If he didn’t follow orders, his whole family would die. There was nothing he could do.

“And after everything you’ve done, have they actually let your family go?” Lydia pressed.

She knew all too well how those people in Southeast Asia operated. No morals, no humanity, no promises kept. All that talk about keeping your family safe was just a lie to keep you useful. The second you outlived your value, they’d toss you aside without a thought.

Spencer’s face went completely pale.

Lydia’s voice softened, but her words were fierce. “But if you help us, we’ll do everything we can to save your family. Trust your country, not those monsters. Spencer, don’t forget where you come from. You’re one of us. Your family has always been from here. Do your loved ones even know what you’re doing? Would they want this for you?”

Spencer’s knees buckled. He dropped to the floor, clutching his head, sobbing like he’d finally hit his breaking point.

“I had no choice. I did it for my family. They have everyone… I can’t let anything happen to them…”

“If you trust me, I can save them,” Lydia said quietly.

Spencer lifted his tear-streaked face. “You? What could you possibly do? You’re just a girl, you have no power. Do you even know where they’re keeping them? I can’t do anything, so how could you? I won’t tell you anything about them. If I stay quiet, they’ll let my family go.”

He gagged, then blood poured from his mouth.

The others stumbled back, horrified, but Lydia and Connor stayed where they were.

Spencer started to mumble, his voice barely hanging on. “My daughter… she loves durian the most. I won’t get to buy it for her anymore…”

“I always said I’d find a place where durian grows and plant a whole orchard for her. Let her eat as much as she wants… Guess I’ll never get to do that now…”

He coughed up more blood, his eyes went wide, and he stopped moving.

Vincent, standing behind them, stepped forward slowly. His face was pale as he asked, “Dr. Norwood, is he… is Spencer dead?”

Lydia’s voice was quiet and heavy. “He injected the virus straight into his heart. There’s nothing anyone could have done.”
