I felt gratitude for Richard, but also hatred.
Ultimately, it was because I wasn’t strong enough.
“Have you decided? Then I’ll go arrest him and put him under house arrest with Lily.”
Helen was eager to get started. As long as I wasn’t marrying Richard, she would do anything to help me.
“Be careful.” Given how well Richard knew me, had he anticipated my betrayal?
A wave of worry washed over me as I looked at Helen. “Everyone will make it out alive, right?”
Helen nodded. “Don’t worry about me.”
She didn’t want me to worry, but I knew this was an all-or-nothing gamble.
Richard was more dangerous than anyone.
After seeing Helen off, I was about to turn back when a sarcastic voice drifted from behind me. “Lenore’s daughter is certainly a cunning one.”
I turned to see a woman with a full head of silver hair, worn loose and flowing. She was dressed in a simple white linen gown and plain white cloth shoes.
Her style was casual, yet she exuded an air of nobility.
“And you are?” I had a feeling I knew. Could this be Richard and Lily’s mother?
“Who am I? You tell me who I am. I really don’t know who I am. Hahaha, who am I? Can anyone tell me who I am?” She suddenly became frantic, grabbing my shoulders and shaking me. Then she let go, rushed into the corridor, and grabbed a servant. “Who am I?”
The servants all knelt. “You are our First Lady.”
First Lady?
“No, I’m not! I’m not!”
She clutched the back of her head, questioning herself, then looked back at me. “Lenore, are you here to steal my Richard?”
