Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 129

Chapter 129

RILEY

Bon’t worry about the timeline, Mommy was saying to this bullet person as I forced myself to pay more attention as this was becoming very serious.

*TH handle Riley within the next few days. Very soon he will be a thing of the past. You just focus on making sure Lumina and Ollie never come back to this city ever again. I have kicked them out but I’m sure they will try to come back out of Lumina’s misguided attempt to salvage her marriage. Once they’re all gone, Nenols will be mine forever.”

I heard het start to wrap up the phone call, and I quickly ran back to my room, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might explode

moment now:

I sat down on my bed, staring at the wall, trying to process everything I’d just heard.

My whole life was a lie. The woman I loved and trusted more than anyone in the world had stolen me from my real family.

She’d used magic to make everyone think I was her son, when really I belonged to Mr. Xenois and Mrs Lumina. I had a twin brother

named Ollie who was my best friend all this while and practically wanted us to be brothers but I had said no to it. He was someone who

noticed that Sophia treated me badly despite the fact that I tried to hide it and he kept trying to make me stay away from Sophia, coming

up with sleepovers and wanted us to be brothers so he could protect him but I had shut it down because I knew that my Mummy loved me

even when she didn’t show it like Mrs. Lumina did for Ollie.

And now she wanted to kill all of us.

I touched the necklace again, understanding now why it felt so heavy on my neck and why I always felt the need to carry out my

mummy’s orders. It wasn’t protecting me it was controlling me. It was making sure I could never tell anyone the truth about what

Mommy really was.

But I’d heard her talking about killing people. About killing my real family. About killing me. Did that mean the magic was getting

weaker? Or was it just that she’d said it, not me?

I thought about all the times I’d tried to tell people when Mommy was mean to me.. I remembered the last time I’d tried to tell one of my friends about how Mommy sometimes pushed me or called me names. Instead, I’d ended up telling them how wonderful she was,

how lucky I was to have such a loving mother.

The necklace had made me lie. It had made me protect the person who was hurting me.

I heard footsteps on the stairs and quickly grabbed one of my toy cars, pretending to play. But my hands were shaking so badly I dropped it, and it clattered loudly against the floor.

‘Riley?’ Mommy’s voice called from downstairs. “What was that noise?”

Chapter 129

I swallowed hard and called back, “Sorry, Mommy! I just dropped my car!”

She showed up at my doorway a moment later, her face flushed with red and her eyes were filled with something that almost looked

like excitement.

“What are you doing up here, sweetheart?”

1 forced a smile, even though my heart was still racing from what I had heard.

“Just playing with my cars. Are you free to play with me now?”

She looked at me for a long moment, and I wondered if she could tell that I’d been listening. But then she just sighed and rubbed her

temples, shaking her head.

“I have a headache, Riley. You’re being too loud. I’m going to my room to sleep for a while.”
