Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Lumina (Luna)

The doctor’s office was exactly as I remembered Dr. Martinez had been our family physician for years, a competent enough doctor but

one that failed me when it mattered most.

In my previous life, Dr Martinez had told me about the magic siphon that was happening and had informed me to tell Xenois which I did repeatedly, insisting something was wrong, only for Xenois to brush it aside and say it was normal childhood illnesses, nothing to worry about.

And without his permission, Dr Martinez hands were tied up and she couldn’t do anything to help me. By the time it was serious, it had been too late.

Not this time.

“Mrs. Blackwood,” Dr. Martinez said, looking up from her computer as I entered her office. “What can I do for you today?”

“I want a complete body scan for my son,” I said going straight to the point, sitting in the chair across from her desk.

She blinked, clearly surprised by my question.

“Ollie? But he just had his annual checkup two months ago. Everything looked fine.”

Two months ago, Sophia wasn’t yet in this pack. Now that she was, anything was possible. It might be possible that Sophia never needed to meet or touch Ollie for the sickness to begin. Probably them being in the same pack now was enough for the magical siphon to start working.

‘I want it done again,” I insisted, pleading with her. She was originally Xenois doctor and was obliged by pack law to keep Xenois informed of any strange things especially when it came to his own family but I was hoping that the same compassion she had for me in my past life would help me here.

‘I need a full panel. Heart, lungs, everything.”

‘Has he been showing symptoms of something I should know about?” Dr. Martinez leaned forward, suddenly more attentive as he gave me all her attention.

I hesitated. In this timeline, Ollie hadn’t yet shown the severe symptoms that had alarmed me in our previous life. But I knew they were coming.

“Mother’s intuition,” I said finally. “He’s been more tired than usual.”

Dr. Martinez nodded slowly. “I suppose we could run some tests, though I doubt we’ll find anything concerning. Werewolf children are generally quite agile and energetic for their age.” She said smiling at me.

“I’d rather be cautious,” I said, holding her gaze. “And I’d like it done soon. This week, if possible.”

“Well,” she hesitated, checking her schedule. “I could fit him in tomorrow afternoon. Would that work?”

“It would.” I stood, gathering my purse. “Thank you, Doctor.”

As I turned to leave, she cleared her throat. “Mrs. Blackwood? Is everything alright? With you, I mean. Also the reports, should I make them to Xenois office?.”

“NO!” I yelled startling her as she widened her eyes as I quickly replied,

“Um, I don’t want to disturb my husband with this. I know you are bound by law but please, I just want to make sure my son is healthy first.”

She stared at me for a long time before she gave me a nod of her head and with that I knew that I had her in my corner.

“Luna,” Sophia responded, her tone sounding polite although her eyes remained dubious. “What a surprise to see you here.”

“Mom, that’s Alpha Xen’s mate,” Riley whispered loudly, earning a sharp look from his mother.

“Yes, dear. Mrs. Blackwood is the Luna of Silver Creek pack.” Sophia squeezed his shoulder, too much I felt it was hurting Riley.

“Say hello properly.” She said through gritted teeth.

Riley straightened up, briefly masking the pain as he offered me a formal nod that seemed like it was practiced for a child his age.

“Good morning, Luna Blackwood. It’s an honor to meet you.”

Despite everything, I found myself warming to the boy. There was something about him that made me feel open to him and unable to hate him.

He wasn’t responsible for his mother’s actions or my husband’s betrayal.

“The honor is mine, Riley,” I said gently. “And please, call me Luna.”

His serious expression softened slightly looking more happy than I have ever seen him as he gushed out

“Is Ollie with you? Mom said we might see him while we’re in town.”

“Not today, I’m afraid. He’s at school.” I glanced at Sophia. “I’m surprised you’re not at the pack school as well, Riley.”
