Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 233

Chapter 233

LUMINA

“We should get going soon,” I said, checking the time on my phone., to make sure that I was not running late.

“The appointment is at ten, and I want to give Riley some time to get comfortable with the office environment before Dr. Martinez

starts the session.”

“Actually,” Lynn said, setting down her own coffee cup, as she turned to look at me with a small smile present on my face as she looked eager to share some good news with me “Zade and I are heading to the city office today. We’re working on some legal laws, we are making witches officially welcome in the territory, revoking some of the old discriminatory laws, and making here a safe haven for witches

to stay.”

My eyes widened with excitement and hope. “Really? That’s amazing news!”

“Don’t tell my brother about it yet,” Lynn added with a smile. “We want it to be a surprise for him. Lyn’s been working so hard to prove himself here, and we want him to know that his contributions are valued and that he has a permanent place in this pack, no matter what. He has always felt expendable but this will definitely help him see that he is wanted.”

I felt genuine happiness for them, though it was tinged with a bit of envy. “I’m so happy for both of you. And for Lyn – he deserves to

feel secure and welcomed here.”

As I watched Lynn’s face light up when she talked about the legal changes they were implementing, the joy that her twin would be able to perform magic in public and not be scared, it made me wonder if she was a witch too, since they were twins but I decided not to. She had not done anything like that, which solidified she was a wolf through and through but at the same time I couldn’t help but think about my own situation. In Silver Creek City, my best friend Carol still had to sneak around to see me when I needed her help or when she needed herbs that were exclusively grown on our territory and she hadd to hide the fact that she was a witch all the time.

Xenois was the Alpha, but unlike Zade who had complete say on what stays and what goes in his land, Xenois still had to work with his parents’ council and consider the opinions of older pack members who had lived through supernatural conflicts.

Samuel and Silvia Blackwood were survivors of territorial wars that had happened before I was even born. They’d seen the damage that could be caused when different supernaturals fought over land, power and other things, and their caution about accepting outsiders came from hard-earned experience.

Changing those deeply ingrained attitudes would be much more complicated than simply rewriting some laws.

“Maybe someday Silver Creek will follow your example,” I said wistfully. “It would be wonderful if Carol didn’t have to worry about hiding what she is.”

“Change takes time,” Lynn said gently. “But it starts with people like you and Xenois showing that different supernatural communities can work together peacefully.”

We finished getting ready, gathering the boys and loading into Lynn’s car for the drive to the hospital. Lyn had offered to drive us since he was bored with nothing to do and he wasn’t involved in any pack business even as Zade’s mate, and I was grateful not to have to

navigate unfamiliar streets while dealing with two upset children.

I settled into the passenger seat while the boys climbed into the back, immediately resuming their cold war. The tension in the car

was thick enough to cut with a knife, and we hadn’t even left the driveway yet.

“This is going to be a long day,” I murmured to Lyn as he started the engine.

“Kids work things out,” he replied with a small smile aimed at me. “Sometimes they just need time to process their feelings.

As we pulled away from the house, I tried to focus on the passing scenery instead of the hostile energy radiating from the backseat.

The boys had positioned themselves as far apart as possible, with Ollie pressed against one window and Riley clutched against the other,

both of them staring determinedly out their respective sides.
