Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 383

Chapter 383

XENOIS

I couldn’t breathe.

Standing in the foyer of my parents’ estate, surrounded by the deafening silence of an abandoned home, I felt like someone had reached into my chest and squeezed my heart until it stopped beating.

They’d left. My parents had actually left.

Not temporarily. Not on vacation. They’d dismissed staff who’d beenth our family for decades, locked up the house, and disappeared without a single word to their son or their grandson.

Without warning. Without explanation. Without even the courtesy of goodbye.

“Xenois?” Lumina’s voice cut through the roaring in my ears. “Are you okay?”

Was I okay? Was I okay?

My parents-the people who’d raised me, who’d taught me everything about leadership and responsibility and pack loyalty-had abandoned their territory, their family, and their grandson without so much as a phone call. They’d kept me completely in the dark while making decisions

that affected everyone, while leaving questions that nobody could answer.

“I don’t know,” I said honestly, my voice coming out rougher than I intended. “I don’t know what I am right now.”

Fury was there, hot and sharp in my chest. How dare they? How dare they do this to Ollie, who’d never done anything but love them unconditionally? How dare they leave without explanation, without giving me a chance to understand or fix whatever was wrong?

But beneath the fury was something worse. Something that felt suspiciously like hurt.

Because I’d thought we were past this. After everything with Sophia, after the truth about Xena’s death came out, after they’d apologized and tried to make amends-I’d thought we’d turned a corner. That my parents had finally accepted Lumina, accepted that I’d made the right

choice, accepted that our family was healing.

I’d been wrong.

Whatever progress I’d thought we’d made had apparently been an illuson. Because the moment things got complicated again, the moment we brought home two enhanced children and started implementing real changes to pack structure, my parents had run,

“There has to be more to it,” I said, pacing across the marble floor. “They wouldn’t just leave. Not like this. Not without reason.”

“Xenois- Lumina started, her tone gentle in a way that made my chet tighton.

“No,” I interrupted, my alpha authority making the word sharp. “I know what you’re thinking. That they disapprove of Riley and Lake, that they’re traditionalists who can’t handle change, that they’re doing what they always do and choosing prejudice over family. But that doesn’t explain this.” I gestured around the empty house. “Leaving the territory enroly? Dismissing staff they’ve had for thirty years? Locking everything up like they’re never coming back? That’s not disapproval, Luma. That’s something else.”

“Then what?” she asked, and I could hear the exhaustion in her voice. The hurt. The fear that maybe I was making excuses for people who’d

caused her so much pain.

“I don’t know,” I admitted. “But I’m going to find out.”

Thorne appeared in the doorway, Marcus behind him. Both of them loked grim.

“House is clear, Thorne reported. “No signs of forced entry, no evidence of struggle. Everything’s locked up tight, security system armed properly. Wherever they went, they went voluntarily.”

“What about the notice on the door?” I asked.

“Property management notification,” Marcus said, holding up the offical-looking document. “Says the owners are on extended leave and all inquiries should be directed to their legal representative. There’s a law firm listed-Morrison and Associates, downtown.”

I knew that firm. They’d handled Blackwood family legal matters for generations.

“I need to talk to them,” I said. “Right now. Find out what the hell is going on.”

“It’s after five,” Thorne pointed out. “Office will be closed.”

“I don’t care. Get me a partner’s home number. This is pack business, and they’ll damn well make time for their alpha.”
